In this case, the Y&R character found he had an identical stranger! In fact, he didn’t find him, his arch-enemy did, and since the case is kind of convoluted, a bit of explanation is in order.

The Young And The Restless poilers – What Does Peter Bergman Think Of One Of His Past Storylines?

This storyline involves Peter Bergman who plays Jack Abbott. Once upon a time, Young and the Restless’ Jack was married to Phyllis Newman (then-Gina Tognoni). Unfortunately, a look-alike came along, took his place and things was never again the same for his marriage.

Young and the Restless cast member Bergman played both parts, the Abbott heir and the smarmy, sleazy lookalike, a Peruvian drug lord named Marco. It was Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) who found Marco and brought him to town to torment Jack.

In a video interview with his co-star Melissa Claire Egan, who plays Chelsea Newman, Bergman gave his take on playing Marco.

According to Bergman, he was not thrilled about the plot he was asked to play out. “I didn’t like it that much. You know, it was so kind of outlandish that there was this guy in Peru that looked exactly like Jack, that Phyllis wouldn’t know it was another guy in bed.”

That was something that fans also found hard to believe. In fact, many of them saw the story as being one of nonconsensual sex since Phyllis had no idea she was actually sleeping with a stranger. The storyline was controversial, and fans were airing conflicting opinions left and right.

According to Bergman, there was one funny aspect to the plot, “I mean, there were lots of things that were—my favorite thing about it was that Marco had a thing for Ashley. And I used to literally scare Eileen Davidson coming on to her because she played my sister for so long and suddenly I’m doing scenes where I’m hitting on her. That was great fun.” Okay, that would be gross.
