As soap fans know, extremes are pushed within this escapist genre in order to create drama. So, Victor (as always played by Braeden) and the many actors who’ve portrayed his son, in both child and adult form, haven’t had a sustained, or normal relationship.
However, as viewers are seeing, a tease is being offered. Might it be possible that Victor and Adam are moving toward an emotional accord that leads to a sustained peace between them?
Young And The Restless Spoilers – An Argument In Favor Of Peace
Tough love involves persistence, which defined Victor’s faux death plan. His goal was to force Adam to see the error of his ways, with the intention of making his son change. Adam has been wronged by his father on many occasions since coming to live in Genoa City, Wisconsin, in 2008. That was after his mother, Hope Wilson (Signy Coleman) revealed that Victor was his father.
Hope’s death followed the revelation, with her desire being that Adam (as then played by Chris Engen) bond with his father. She wanted the best for her son and wouldn’t have approved of the many choices he’s made and crimes he’s committed in pursuit of various self-centered agendas.
An area of common ground that may help both men resolve their differences centers upon Adam’s acknowledgment that his mother took him back to Kansas, rather than Victor having abandoned him as a child. For his part, Victor must also continue to focus on Adam’s obvious need for emotional support from the entire Newman family. Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor’s three other children would surely remain suspicious of Adam if any agreement is reached, with their protective instincts kicking in hard.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Writing Against History Is A Gamble
It’s fair for any hardcore Y&R follower to suggest that changing the dynamic between Victor and Adam, by turning them from foes into allies, would go against history. Yes, it is a gamble to shift this portion of the show’s ether in that direction.
But viewers already experienced the fierce, endless battles during the Michael Muhney (Adam) years and now, as Grossman is playing this character. They also recall the brief accord reached while Justin Hartley (Adam) was at the end of his well-received run with the cast in 2016.
Hartley’s voluntarily departed to join the then upstart nighttime series, ‘This Is Us’. So, fans knew that Adam’s rapprochement with both Victor and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) was happening because of behind the scenes changes and wasn’t scheduled to endure. Adam’s return, with a deep, dark vengeance, writes him back to the edition of the character that Muhney played to the hilt. So, any attempt to sustain a softer Victor-Adam connection would constitute new territory.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Reconciliation Is A Risk Worth Considering
The daily grind of producing five shows a week requires change. Viewers do expect characters to be recognizable. But soap fans have always shown a willingness to accept believable adjustments if they are logical.
Adam’s transformation may already be happening. He wept on the floor at the penthouse, admitted to being “messed up” when saying goodbye to Connor Newman (Judah Mackey), and then shared tears with Victor at the Ranch. If ever there was a lead-in to character growth, it would seem to be now.
However, it’s fair to believe Adam’s feelings will be short-lived. And, even if he and Victor reach a truce, that it will be broken again. Fans of ‘The Young and the Restless’ rightfully express their opinions on a regular basis. So, will Victor and Adam finally reconcile for good? Please vote in our poll below!
