The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Dylan McAvoy has a lot of reasons to return to the show right about now. The character was originated by Steve Burton following his departure from ABC’s General Hospital.
He stayed three years on the CBS sudser and is now back on GH as Jason Morgan. Chances that he would return to the role are slim to none at this time. But enough time has passed that a recast would not be very jarring, if at all, for fans.
In reality, Steve’s run as Dylan was met with some mixed reactions by fans. Some just couldn’t see him in a role other than Jason Morgan, and for others, Dylan was an underdeveloped character. In fact, Steve recently said in an interview with Soap Opera Digest that during his time as Dylan he got plenty of negative messages on his social media.
In the end, Dylan remains a viable character, now more than ever. Here are five reasons why Dylan should be recast.
#1 Dylan McAvoy Broke Sharon Newman’s Heart And She Deserves A Chance To Resolve Her Feelings.
Before he left Dylan and Sharon enjoyed a relationship, although it was not without its ups and downs. For one thing, Sharon miscarried his child but there was a baby switch which resulted in her bringing home a different baby. When she found out the truth she kept it to herself and Dylan had a hard time forgiving her.
#2 Dylan McAvoy Is Paul William’s Long Lost Son And They Never Got A Chance To Bond.
When Dylan came to town he had no clue that he was the biological son of Chief of Police Paul Williams (Doug Davidson). Paul was thrilled to learn the news, but he and Dylan never had the time to bond and get to know each other the way that a father and son should.
#3 Dylan McAvoy Has A Job Waiting For Him At The Police Station.
Prior to his departure Paul hired Dylan as a detective. There are all kinds of rumors floating around that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) could be leaving the canvas and if that’s the case Paul will need a replacement.
#4 Dylan McAvoy And Nick Newman Could Pursue A Business Venture Together.
There was a time when Nick and Dylan were fighting for the same woman which led to a strained relationship. But they are brothers and there is no doubt that they would work well together on one of Nick’s innumerable new business ventures.

#5 Dylan McAvoy Should Return To Fill Everyone In On What He’s Been Up To.
Dylan had to leave and enter the Witness Protection Program. Isn’t it about the time he’s been cleared to leave and tell everyone what he’s been doing and reunite with his loved ones?
