Y&R Spoilers: Beth Maitland Talks Emmy Nomination
Maitland was nominated for a Daytime Emmy this year. She did some very emotional scenes this year, with Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) departure and all the heartbreaking scenes with Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams). For many Y&R fans, they thought that this nomination was a long time coming.
“I have not been in this race for many years, and I have been a dedicated participant in the daytime world/universe, but I honestly never thought this day would come again, and I am so grateful, and I am so excited. I could not be more honored to be in a position to celebrate my peers, my coworkers, my medium — everything! I’m just as high as a kite,” Maitland said of her nomination.
Beth went on to say,” One was early in the year, involving the Dina [Marla Adams] Alzheimer’s storyline and the fallout from that. It was not so much about Dina, but more about how her illness affects the family and the impact it has in a very personal way to the caregivers and to those people around who feel left behind. Another episode was a standalone sort of thing that stuck out for me, where Traci dedicated a scholarship in the name of her departed daughter, Colleen [Tammin Sursok], and there was a particularly beautiful speech that was written for Traci for this dedication.”
Young and The Restless Spoilers: Abbotts Will Be In Turmoil
As for the Abbott family, Maitland said they will be a constant turmoil for a while. Jack (Peter Bergman) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) will be in a power struggle that could last quite a while. Then their mother Dina’s health is declining pretty quickly.
Beth said that in the weeks ahead, many familiar faces will pop up. She couldn’t say who exactly, only that the fans are in for a rare treat.
