Tapping Lily to be Billy’s co-equal in the media division was smart on multiple levels. CI’s venture will hopefully generate profit. But that likely wouldn’t happen if Billy was allowed to steer the ship alone, meaning that Lily’s presence is vital.

Billy’s description of himself can accurately be tagged as bluster. His continuing push to tell people who he thinks he is leaving one infinitely important human factor out, everyone else.

What Thompson’s transforming character is doing is basically projecting old-fashion selfishness as something new when it’s clearly not. Just ask Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) if she recognizes a new Billy or the same erratic, thoughtless person she’s known for years.

Y&R Spoilers – Lily Winters Rebounding From Tough Years

Lily accidentally killed her brother’s (Devon Hamilton, Bryton James) unborn child two years ago this summer. She drove her car through a red light while a pregnant Hilary Hamilton (Mishael Morgan) was sitting in her passenger’s seat and Charlie Ashby (Noah Alexander Gerry) was in the rear.

Khalil projected a resoundingly stellar performance during the arc that ended with Lily being sent to prison. While there Mrs. Ashby learned that her husband, Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) kissed Vickie. Billy drove numerous hours on impulse to the jailhouse to make sure Lily was informed about what happened.

The above served to end ‘Lane’. That, combined with Lily and Billy’s past personal history, establishes an interesting dynamic in 2020.

It’s fair to wonder if this pair will evolve into more than business partners, considering Billy’s infamous charm and Lily’s seeming single status? Billy’s recent attachment to Amanda Sinclair (Morgan’s newest Y&R character) appears to provide built-in conflict, as Lily and Hilary were formal rivals.

The assumed genetic link between Amanda and Hilary has yet to be established. But it’s fair to wonder if both Billy and Lily will be included in that storyline and then become part of a triangle?

Y&R may be writing Billy and Lily together simply as Jill intends so that they can work cooperatively on building CI’s media division. But there’s plenty to play off of personally if the writing staff drives this story in that direction.
