Young And The Restless Spoilers: Cane Signs Divorce Papers – Lane Really Over?

Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) didn’t want to leave Lily Ashby (Christel Khalil) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But he finally decides to bend to her request that they divorce. However, the ‘Lane’ storyline will persist, if in an altered form.

Fans of this comprehensive soap site know that Khalil voluntarily went to recurring status last year. She has been seen in recent months, as issues between Lily and Cane were developing and due to Neil Winters’ (Kristoff St. John) passing.

Y&R was faced with a challenge in not writing out Khalil’s longtime character, but in writing Lily off. The solution involved Mrs. Ashby being found guilty in the accidental deaths of Hilary Hamilton (Mishael Morgan) and ‘Hevon’s’ unborn child due to the car accident.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Moved To Prison That Was Hours Away

Lily first went to a local jail, but was then moved to a prison that was hours away. Cane and the twins visited as often as possible, but the family’s life obviously wasn’t the same. ‘Lane’ fans queasiness was well placed, as this favored couple has seemingly reached a permanent break.

Legitimate hope existed when Lily told Cane that she was being released early, which resulted from the productive work assignment she was skillfully handing that involved her fellow inmates. But Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) tell to Lily about Cane having impulsed kissed Vickie Newman (Amelia Heinle) spurned a decisive change.

Lily has remained adamant about ‘Lane’s’ legal split. Dialogue informed viewers that the twins will be living with their mother while she works at the prison.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Could Another Remarriage Occur?

That followed news that Lexie Stevenson (Mattie Ashby) and Noah Alexander Gerry (Charlie Ashby) wouldn’t be seen as regularly as they have since the Ashby twins were SORASed in 2017.

With Goddard’s cast status appearing to remain the same and Khalil at least remaining recurring, Cane and Lily can’t be truly over. Their connection with the twins, the deep personal history they share, and the still resolving impact of Neil’s death all matter.

Here’s hoping that Y&R keeps ‘Lane’ connected, with an eventual remarriage written into a future script. Goddard and Khalil’s characters work because of the chemistry both great actors have delivered for many, many years.
