Young and the Restless Spoilers: Kyle Faces Challenging New Year – Theo Won’t Back Down

The Young and the Restless: Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), Lola Abbott (Sasha Calle)

Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is enjoying the afterglow of Christmas, New Year’s, and birthday celebrations on ‘The Young and the Restless’. He’s ready to begin 2020 with his personal and professional life looking better than it ever has.

Of course, Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) isn’t doing as well. He was given a plumb job at Jabot by his uncle, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Personally, Summer Newman (Hunter King) was recently dismissed, though she later turned down an offer to temporarily reunite, and his odds of catching Lola Abbott’s (Sasha Calle) eye appear to be remote.

But this is daytime, meaning that the cousin’s Abbott will clash hard and all will not remain as it is now. The gnaw at Kyle’s gut is actually Theo refusing to back off.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Kola’s Bliss Projects Nicely

It would be reasonable for many residents in Genoa City, Wisconsin, to project ‘Kola’s’ bliss nicely in this new year. They are genuinely in love, which matters infinitely more than any career as anyone in this fictional town who has, or is experiencing something remotely similar could attest to.

Secondarily, the business has been booming for both halves of Y&R’s arguably cutest couple. Society is a raging success, which affirms Lola’s chops in this initial high stakes platform.

Lola’s meteoric rise from Living The Vida Lola to Abby Newman’s (Melissa Ordway) restaurant and hot spot was a bit soapy but has made for an upbeat storyline. The Grand Phoenix Hotel is another area where Lola’s expertise has been tapped. That has shortened Mrs. Abbott’s free time considerably, which gives Theo an angle to keep playing.

Y&R Spoilers – Kyle Abbott Keeps Eyes On New York

Theo represents reckless days in New York. That’s how Kyle sees him, overriding the revealed biological connection.

Kudos to Y&R for introducing what appeared to be a side character and skillfully weaving him into becoming Dina Mergeron’s (Marla Adams) grandson. Johnson is a sound actor, who evokes a combination of vulnerability and cunning that allows Theo to be unpredictable, which is part of what makes him interesting.

Theo’s crush on Lola has developed over time, with his intent to pursue her seeming initially unintended. Lola’s growing fondness for Kyle’s friend turned cousin isn’t a problem, but surely establishes a baseline of worry for ‘Kola’ fans.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Theo Vanderway Wants To Bait Opponent

Theo doesn’t trust Kyle. Generally, this pair would be presented from the opposite point of view, but let’s elevate Mr. Vanderway’s position.

He didn’t know Kyle was his cousin when first coming to GC. The unfortunate fallout between them, that was caused by both men, has led to the unsustainable interplay that exists now.

Kyle holds most of the power. He’s on his literal home turf, has his forever family members around him, and has the love of a good woman. Theo’s at an almost total disadvantage, despite the goodwill of his other Abbott family members, and believes Kyle’s entitled attitude needs to be forcibly changed.

Theo wants to bait Kyle into falling, rather than fight openly. Their battle will wage, with Jabot serving as the front. Lola and Summer could become collateral damage. Although either lady or both could also be involved in raising the stakes or forcing the hotheads to cool.

I would really love for Kyle and Lola to rise above the desperate duo Theo and Summer. Kyle and Lola are such a smart, modern, young couple I don’t want to see them fall prey to childish 1980’s style garbage. I loved when Lola intelligently took Kyle privately out of the office and pointed out Summer is playing just as dirty and manipulative games as Theo but her and Kyle should know better. I was proud of that character and thought it was a good example to young women.
