Young And The Restless Spoilers: Melissa Claire Egan Teases Chelsea’s Big Return

“Told ya it was just ‘goodbye for now,’” Melissa Clair Egan tweeted when the news of her comeback to “The Young and the Restless” made the headlines. Excited to be playing the character of Chelsea Newman once again, Egan teased her return by sharing behind the scene photos of her and Sharon Case with a caption, “Chelsea’s got some explaining to do (i.e. why she knocked Sharon unconscious before she left town last year).”

Egan debuted her character in November 2011. Upon her arrival in Genoa City, she immediately informed Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) that she was carrying his child after having slept together in Myanmar. She went through a paternity test, which confirmed that Billy was indeed the father so Chelsea moved in with him and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). Eventually, Billy and Victoria discovered that Chelsea and her mother, Anita Lawson (Catherine Bach), were in town as part of Victor Newman’s plan to split them up.

Chelsea then decided to give up her paternal rights to his son to Billy and Victoria. During her pregnancy, she became close with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), which Victoria didn’t approve of. After a confrontation with Victoria, she ran off and was found almost drowned in a frozen lake by Adam. He helped him give birth to a baby boy, which she named John. She refused Victor’s money to leave town but had Adam by her side. The couple got married and got pregnant.

Unfortunately, she lost her baby because of Summer Newman (Hunter King). As she grieves for the death of her unborn child, Chelsea found out that Adam was helping Sharon and caught them kissing. She asked Adam to move with her to Paris but when he was unable to leave his job, Chelsea decided she wanted to have a divorce.

Chelsea then worked as a fashion designer and got pregnant. She wanted to tell Adam about it but Chloe urged her not to because she slept with Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton). Chelsea decided to tell Dylan that he was the father, so they moved in together and eventually got married.

Chelsea gave birth to Connor, but he was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, which made Adam realize that he was his son. Because of this revelation, Chelsea and Dylan broke up, and she remarried Adam. In a tragic turn of events, the people at Genoa City thought that Adam was dead after his car exploded.

Chelsea tried to move on and developed an intimate relationship with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), but she ended up sleeping with Gabriel Bingham, who turned out to be Adam Newman. However, Adam has been killed once more and Chelsea moves on with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). But their relationship didn’t last as he found out that Chelsea was siphoning money from Fenmore’s, which left her no choice but to leave town.
