Young and the Restless Spoilers: Phyllis Summers’ Downward Spiral – Michelle Stafford Takes Character In Dark Direction

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Phyllis Summers' Downward Spiral - Michelle Stafford Takes Character In Dark DirectionThe Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) isn’t acting like herself lately. No, that has nothing to do with the cast switch from the great Gina Tognoni (Phyllis) to the equally stellar Stafford. Instead, Y&R fans are witnessing a blending of this character.

Stafford’s Phyllis was full-on fierce. Sure, she had her moments where all didn’t go well. But the original version of Phyllis generally ruled Genoa City, Wisconsin, on her terms.

Tognoni’s run as Phyllis presented a different side of the character to the audience. From the relationship with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), to her end, where she was captured and held prisoner by Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart), more recent views of Phyllis portrayed her as vulnerable.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Phyllis Summers’ Downward Spiral

Siding with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), which took place during Tognoni’s final episodes, was a foreshadowing of the Phyllis that Stafford would assume. The party at the penthouse on July Fourth, where only three guests showed up, which didn’t included Adam, underscored Phyllis’ flailing.

Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) took pity on his two-time wife at Society earlier that day. She started to become emotional about Summer Newman (Hunter King) and Jack offered some advice, that proved to be unwanted.

He told Red to reset her personality. Phyllis didn’t appreciate what seemed to be an insult, but actually wasn’t. While a write-back to Phyllis golden days won’t result in smooth sailing, it likely would allow her to regain control over life.

Phyllis is working for Adam. Yes, that read right. In actuality, she was only given the job because of some good dirt she has about his connection to Chance Chancellor (John Driscoll). Adam bought Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) company because he wanted to leverage it into gaining Christian Newman’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) custody. So, Phyllis, with all of her business experience and skill is basically a token hire in Adam’s plan b.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – It’s Time For Phyllis To Rise From The Ashes

On a personal level, matters are even worse. Nick doesn’t want her. Billy is with Vickie Newman (Amelia Heinle). The love of her life, after Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian), Jack, isn’t currently interested in a Phack revival.

With Summer needing help herself, King’s character aiding Phyllis doesn’t seem likely. So maybe Y&R will write Phyllis’ other child, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei), back. He’s level-headed and the older offspring.

In order for initial progress to be made, Phyllis will need to stand on her own. After accomplishing that goal, she needs her own home, and a man who challenges her. Possibly someone new?

If not Mr. Whoever, then Jack just might do. But Celeste Rosales (Eva LaRue) has eyes for him. So maybe that personal challenge might be brewing, while whatever business matters are obtained.

Heading Dark Horse isn’t really okay. Instead, Phyllis should take control of the company as her own.

Both personal and business advances would represent a reset. With Stafford back fans are waiting for the original, iconic Phyllis to be seen and wouldn’t be wise to bet against that happening.
