Y&R Spoilers – So, What Exactly Is A 1940s Style “Film Noir”?

“Film Noir” refers to a style or genre of cinematographic film marked by a mood of pessimism, fatalism, and menace. The term was originally applied (by a group of French critics) to American thriller or detective films made in the period 1944–54 and to the work of directors such as Orson Welles, Fritz Lang, and Billy Wilder. Think “Dillinger”, “Gangster”, or “Johnny Stool Pigeon” or maybe some of those old Edward G. Robinson movies like “Little Caesar”. Spoilers do not say whether Rey and Sharon’s scenes will be in black and white for effect, but they may be since “1940s film noir” is the wording in the description! In a promo still, Sharon is dressed in a 1940s glamour style black dress complete with black opera gloves.

It also is not clear whether this will be Rey’s or Sharon’s dream, but they will both be in it! If it’s Sharon’s dream, Rey may be a dashing detective with her by his side helping him bust gangsters and solve cases, or he may be a slick gangster with her as his gun moll! That could be either a trick or a treat in Sharon’s case. If it’s Rey’s dream, however, his being a gangster in it would definitely be a nightmare and a trick! What detective worth his salt wants to dream that he’s Public Enemy Number One?

Rey could be a dangerous persona regardless of whether he’s a bad guy or a good guy, depending upon whose side he’s on! To a gangster, he could be a dangerous persona if he’s a detective; to a detective, he could be a dangerous persona if he’s a gangster! Whether this is a dream or costumes for a party, it sounds like Rey and Sharon will have an interesting Halloween to say the least!
