The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) needed a defender. Chelsea Boudreau (Melissa Claire Egan) wasn’t interested in reviving her role. So Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) has willingly taken over.
The battle between Adam and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) for custody of Christian Newman is the latest play out in this longstanding game of grudge. Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) two sons haven’t liked each other from nearly the moment when they first met, as adults, in 2008. That was when Chris Engen (Adam) first embodied this now notorious character.
Engen’s run on Y&R was brief, as Michael Muhney (Adam) took over in 2009. His electric performances of the scripts he was given, along with the terrific work of his supporting cast members, turned Adam into GC’s top villain. In effect, Adam was the new Victor.

Part of the reason why Nick despises Adam so much is that he sees the darkest elements of his father within his younger brother. However, Sharon sees the lower range of Nick exhibited whenever he is fighting Adam. That’s one reason why she’s rushed to the defense of the character Grossman is now playing.
Viewers recall that TPTB shied away from Shadam involvement when Justin Hartley (Adam) portrayed the character during a two-year stint that was widely applauded. Now, in light of the reverse SORAS twist, where Adam is approximately ten years younger than he would have been had Hartley’s edition remained on the show, Sharon has become a viable romantic partner again.

It is rather clever for Y&R to have re-positioned Chelsea with Nick (Chick) and Sharon with Adam (Shey). That creates multiple points of battle between all four characters and the pairings as noted.
As to the custody issue, Adam has skillfully caused Nick to respond in ways that shift focus away from what happened in the past. Adam can’t defend stealing Faith Newman (as now played by Alyvia Alyn Lind) from Sharon when she born, not reporting what happened to Delia Abbott (Sophie Pollono) after he convinced himself that he accidentally ran her down, or various other plot points. But provoking Nick to act like he did during the custody hearing and now, to physically attack him, works to Adam’s advantage.
Sharon has moved from sympathy for Adam to revived feelings for him. Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) fully recognized the buttons Adam has pushed and smartly opted out of Shey.

Chelsea is arguably Adam’s deepest obsession. Sharon was Nick’s first true love. If Nick is with Chelsea, then Adam will be with the mother of two of his bother’s children.
Sharon has reverted to being Adam’s passionate defender. So, he has an ally in this first custody battle, with a second to likely follow involving Connor Newman (as most recently played by Gunner and Ryder Gadbois).

I’ll tell you what I think.I think the writers should be ashamed of themselves for making Sharon do a storyline that makes some people call her bad names all the time.She doesn’t deserve for some people to hate her so much. Very unhappy viewer!

I am disgusted with the writers portraying Sharon as a sex object once again. We all know that she has a beautiful body because we have seen it in countless scenes with countless different partners.
I love the writers for putting Sharon with Adam cause he doesn’t have any family
his dad disowned him cause he is trying to do the right thing get custody of his son’s
Christian and Connor.
I read about it’s coming,so I’m done with Y&R now. I’m tired of the writers making Sharon a pariah when she’s one of the best actors on there. This is the soap that should be 30 mins and make B&B an hr. It’s so much better.
I agree with what you say about Sharon she doesn’t deserve it. As for Adam hw dose not deserve Christian, he gave up his rights and he is not a fit father, he is not a father at all. I wish he would die and stay dead.
This story is about as messed up as B&B was. Adam cam back as a sleeve ball thinking he’s supposed to have what he wants no matter what and deserving of two kids that don’t even know who he is, wreaking havoc on everyone. Phyllis isn’t any better. No wonder Victor disowned him. Why doesnt Victor have more of a storyline? Without him this show is headed for the dumpster.
Chelsea is not Adam’s deepest obsession. Sharon is. To say otherwise is to ignore Adam 2009 to 2013. Also, Sharon does not have to be written as the pariah IF Y&R finally writes for Adam and Sharon instead of using them as a plot device for Nick.
I like Adam and Sharon together. She is a strong woman and I think she can calm Adam down. I would like to see Adam and Sharon the next Victor and Nikki.
Adam is a jerk…Sharon will go to bed with anyone…The kids need a steady home. Only Nick can give them that.
I am about to give y&r a break. Sharon is too old to be so stupid. She is the only character that still acts like she’s a teenager. I’m sick of Adam and Sharon they deserve each other. Do better y&r. U use to be my fav. I’ll start watching again next month

I think the writers r portraying Sharon as a bimbo. They make her look like a slut 1st Nick ,then Rey now Adam come on get someone new on the show who has chemistry with Sharon and show her respect no seems to know the word on the Y&R .Everyone just plays chesterfield checkers they jump anyone who’s available. Let Billy find out its Chance who is doing the dirty work for Adam .Adam is nothing but a replica of Victor so let’s get this custody storyline over and done no little boy should have to go through what Christian is going through

Doing the right thing is leaving the children where they are being loved and nurtured by people who really care for them. Adam has no family because he alienated them all by his own selfish actions.
