Young and the Restless Spoilers: Sparks Fly – Jack and Jill Together Again?

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Jill Fenmore Atkinson (Jess Walton) have twice been shown in scenes that imply renewed romantic interest is possible. Jack is indicating that he might be falling for Jill, or at least is caught up in nostalgia that could lead him toward a retro flame.

Ages ago, in both soap and real-time, Jack and Jill were romantically involved. That reality was scandalous because Jill was his father’s, John Abbott’s (Jerry Douglas), wife.

Digitally skipping to modern times, Jack hasn’t been with anyone in a while. Jill reconciled with her lout of a husband, Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers), a handful of months ago on the remote island where he was stowed away. But no Jilin sequel followed, which gives Jack a chance now.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Memories Of The Past

The Jill character dates back to the origins of Y&R, which debuted in 1973. Brenda Dickson (Jill) was the first actor to embody this role, with her battles against Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) ranking with the most legendary of any two opponents in soap history. Walton joined the cast in 1987.

Both ladies’ love for Phillip Chancellor II (as last played by Donnelly Rhodes) made them natural enemies, but they came to care about each other in later years and even briefly thought they were mother and daughter. Cooper’s indelible, partially ad-libbed the last scene on Y&R, which preceded her real-life death in 2013, included Walton and took place in the Chancellor mansion, all of which created a wonderful sendoff for this soap’s greatest actor and character.

The late Terry Lester (Jack) was the first actor to portray John’s son. He was followed by Bergman in 1989. As is true of Jill, Jack is also a crucial part of this show’s history (and present).

Y&R Spoilers – Dealing With Dina Mergeron’s Plight

Jack is off-center right now because of his mother’s advancing Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) just moved back into the Abbott estate, where Jill once lived with John.

The overlap in their personal history seems to be creating a sense of nostalgia for Jack, who hasn’t shown interest in Jill in years. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), arguably Jack’s greatest love, is back with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). So, the character Bergman plays is vulnerable.

Jill was surprised that Jack recalled what her handwriting looked like, as they sat at Society’s bar, attempting to complete a crossword puzzle together. Being of a similar generation, which is the implication, Jack and Jill have enough in common to at least consider another go at romance.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Peter Bergman And Jess Walton Are Great

Bergman celebrated thirty years on Y&R last year. Walton hit that mark in 2017. Together, along with a small handful of others, they are the stalwart cast members.

Hardcore viewers and all newer fans who value fabulous, collaborative acting, would get a kick out of an actual Jack and Jill reboot. No real need to create a new hashtag nickname either, as their first two names reflect the classic children’s story and what could be a revived soapy tale.

YES!! I love going old school, and pairing a Foster with an Abbott again!! They’d be so perfect together again, & of free will, not scandalous like before… I also think it’d be good for Jack to be with an equal, not someone 20 years younger than he is or someone taken… He loved Nikki, but she was always Victor’s even when Jack was married to her. And he loved Phyllis, but she really always loved Nick… He loved Sharon, pretty sure they were married, once… But Jill is his age, she’s feisty, smart, & obviously no longer married to his Dad… I think it would perk him up beautifully!! And it’s a piece of history that those of us who watched it since 1973 would appreciate… I miss the Brooks & Fosters, (& Chancellor’s), but obviously it’s the Newman’s & Abbott’s now, who are so central… Pairing this Foster with this Abbott is the PERFECT choice! I love it!!!

Jill doesn’t seem elegant enough for Jack but if we could get some good writing and fun episodes it would definitely be more entertaining than watching the alternative Nick and Phyllis snore fest.

Jack seems to have been floundering for the last quite awhile so maybe this will perk him up for awhile. They have both mellowed in their later years so maybe the relationship could be more calm now
