Summer and Kyle were involved several years ago, long before Kyle ever met Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) who is now his wife. Even though Summer dated others and had moved in and out of the country, and Kyle had left and come back to town as well, Summer still seems to be carrying a torch for him.
Kyle is a kind and supportive friend, and it’s hard for Summer to keep emotional boundaries when she has been leaning on him heavily since the fiasco with her grandfather, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) having faked his death and not brought her into the loop, only to find out he isn’t dead after all and having grieved him and been devastated over his death.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Doesn’t Want To Ruin Kola’s Marriage
It’s easy for young women to become emotionally attached to young men who they lean on to begin with, but when Summer is carrying a torch for Kyle from way back, all this close contact and brotherly hugs that she wants to be more is not easy to deal with.
She knows Kyle is happily married to Lola, and she doesn’t want to mess things up for them by admitting her still strong feelings and attractions to him. Besides, they are working together and she doesn’t want to risk her job by coming onto the temporary co-CEO! But the problem is, being with him at work most of the time and leaning on him emotionally has reignited that torch into a flame that is hard to extinguish!
The only thing Summer can do, aside from trying to take a leave of absence from Jabot, is to try and push down her feelings and just hope that Kyle doesn’t pick up on them – or Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson)! There is some rivalry and conflict going on between the uncle and nephew, around the office, and if she needs to talk, Billy is probably not the best go-to if she doesn’t talk to Kyle.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Summer Newman Needs A New Friend
It might be best if she talks to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) or better yet if she had a girlfriend she could hang out with and lean on, but unfortunately, like her mother Phyllis Newman (Michelle Stafford) she seems to have gained a reputation of being a man-stealer and other women avoid her like the plague.
Maybe she could talk to Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland). Traci lost a daughter and Summer could use a big sister figure, although she would run the risk of becoming a character in one of Traci’s future books! If Summer can’t avoid Kyle, she may just need to avoid leaning on him and find someone else to talk to.

I don’t want Kyle to cheat on Lola, but so long as she doesn’t get pregnant, I think they may come to the realization that they rushed into marriage when they really have different goals in life. Can’t you make a couple end a marriage without one of them sleeping with someone else??
