Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that Victoria Newman, (Amelia Heinle) who just had returned to her job as CEO of Newman Enterprises, was so upset when her father, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) allowed himself to be kowtowed into giving into Adam’s blackmail that she went back to the Newman Ranch and told Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) that she couldn’t even stand to live in the same house with Victor anymore! She couldn’t understand why Victor wasn’t fighting, and Nikki explained that this type of negative publicity would bring the company down faster than anything, no matter what story Victor gave to placate the investors and customers.

It’s mainly the investors that a big corporation like Newman Enterprises needs to keep running, and investors normally believe bad publicity and scandal to be the kiss of death, not believing in customer loyalty to products – it would be a public relations nightmare that even the most talented customer service and public relations departments would not be able to fix! Indeed, customer loyalty does seem to be a thing of the past, with companies all scrambling to grab the tight-fisted consumer’s last buck!

Nikki finally got Victoria calmed down enough where she agreed to move into the tack house on the Newman property, close to the horses she loves, and Nikki agreed that would be an acceptable compromise.

Y&R Spoilers – Victoria Newman Talks To Nick Newman About Adam Newman’s Blackmail

Victoria, of course, will want to tell Nick about the blackmail and how their father has given into it, putting Victoria out of her job that she had just gotten back to, and her fears about Adam running the company into the ground. She knows that Nick will be her ally in trying to talk some sense into their father, although she has to admit that what’s done is done.

Victor already handed the company over to Adam, but it was all verbal – there were no contracts involved that she could tell. Victor tried to tell her that he had a plan and that Adam is not as smart as he thinks he is, but Victoria couldn’t understand that Victor is calling Adam’s bluff. Adam, so to speak, had put his cards on the table but Victor had not yet shown his hand!

It is true that Nick wanted to be his own man and not part of the Newman “machine” although he had taken over for his sister temporarily when she was healing from her stab wound. They talk about what has happened, and even though Victoria tells Nick that Victor claims he has a plan, it is not like Victor not to fight back. Victor had assured Victoria she would be back at the helm in no time, but they’re just didn’t seem to be enough force behind those promises for her to believe him.

She doesn’t want to believe that her father could have murdered someone and covered it up years ago, but she had reassured him that everyone makes mistakes and it didn’t matter. One big, bad mistake doesn’t have to ruin the rest of one’s life.

The Young and the Restless Spoilers – Nick Newman Confronts Adam Newman About His Blackmail

Nick Newman goes to the Newman CEO office where he notices that Adam has removed their father’s portrait from the wall. He’s surprised that one of Adam is not hanging in its place, but Adam didn’t want to feel his father’s disapproval staring at him while he runs his former company.

Nick can understand that point but he tears into Adam about the blackmail – and how is he sure that everything the reporter wrote was true? He knows that Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenica) is the late AJ Montalvo’s (uncast character) daughter – couldn’t she be just a little bit biased? Adam laughs that off and tells him that Alyssa and AJ did not have exactly a loving and warm relationship, and that he had been in prison most of the time when Alyssa was growing up, and that his business in Leavenworth, Kansas had only been a front for his loan shark activity!

However, not only has Adam blackmailed Victor with something that should have been left in the past, he’s caused Victoria to lose her job and her job is all that has been giving her a reason to live, aside from her children. She felt that going back to work was what was going to make her completely whole again, and Nick agrees with her that Victor’s giving into Adam’s blackmail so easily is not something Victor would do! Nick demands to know what else Adam has done to their father to take the fight out of him!
