Young And The Restless Spoilers: Thad Luckinbill’s Emmy-Worthy Performance As J.T. Continues

Young And The Restless Spoilers: J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill)Thad Luckinbill’s (J.T. Hellstrom) turn on ‘The Young and the Restless’ could score a Daytime Emmy for his work in a supporting role next year. As Y&R fans know, the actor’s reprisal of his one-time character turned deeply dark in 2018 and now, incredibly continues in the spring of 2019.

Luckinbill’s comments about returning to Y&R again highlight the risk he was willing to take with the character he’s played since Day 1 in 1999. His acceptance of former executive producer and head writer Mal Young’s pitch enabled one of the show’s more memorable arcs of this decade.

The idea of transforming J.T. from the young man fans first saw at the end of the last millennium into a monster was radical. Luckinbill needed to seriously consider if he wanted to not just revisit the role he filled through 2010, but also to take the broken person J.T. would become in a sharp, new direction.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Divorced Actors Added Extra Element

Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman) and Luckinbill were married in real life for approximately 10 years and have children together. Their characters were also married on the show and had a child, Reed Hellstrom (Tristan Lake Leabu) during Luckinbill’s first stint.

Having the recently amicably divorced actors work together again, starting in 2017, added an extra element that doesn’t often exist. That spoke well of both individuals and their capacity to reach emotional depths that wouldn’t exist in other pure actor pairings.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Mal Young’s Storyline Earned Respect

J.T.’s mental disintegration was deeply moving. The physical acts he took against Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Vickie were disturbing, yet served to further awareness of an issue that affects both men and women around the world. On that point alone, Young’s storyline earned respect.

Luckinbill’s time didn’t end last April, which, on its own would have been enough. Instead, the actor also agreed to a resurrection story. Considering all that’s happened so far and in knowing that the arc has stretched toward the one-year mark, devoted soap fans are expecting the finale to be riveting.

J.T. lives! That exclamatory statement also means that daytime devotees will see the superb efforts of Y&R’s cast, Young’s scripts, and all behind-the-scenes players play out in dramatic fashion. Kudos all around.
