Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers state that during the July 2 episode, Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) told Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) that her Aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk) forbade drinking alcohol, so she never drank. While she took a sip of the champagne he ordered for their “date”, Kyle could tell she wasn’t a fan and ordered her something non-alcoholic.

A user on X/Twitter brought out some “receipts” from past shows that indicate Claire was fibbing. So, did the soap fumble with this scene or is there a bigger storyline developing here?

X user @yogachampagne, a huge Y&R fan who also provides spoilers on the soap, videos, and other insights on the social media platform offered a reminder to viewers of the daytime drama that Claire has, in fact, drank alcohol in the past.
She posted two photos with Claire enjoying a drink; one from when Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) invited Claire as her “plus-one” to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Abbott’s (Susan Walters) wedding in October 2023. The other photo was a time when she was drinking a glass of wine, alone.
The first one could be explained as “politeness” and having a sip of champagne to toast the happy couple.

However, the latter was seemingly from the lake house or during her time in GC when she lived alone in that hotel room and was plotting against the Newman family.
Y&R Spoilers – Is Claire Grace Lying?
Did the Y&R slip up on storylines and history by stating Claire doesn’t drink, or is there a reason she lied to Kyle?
Many fans can’t shake that Claire seems a little too much of a Goody two-shoes; fans can’t help but think she may have a dark side she’s repressing because she truly wants to start a new life in GC, which means a “new Claire”, one separate from her Aunt Jordan.

Could Claire also have a problem with alcohol? The one photo does show Claire drinking wine during a tense moment. It does run in the family with her grandmother Nikki and cousin Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) having their own issues with drinking.
This could be something she wants to keep undercover. She may not want to disappoint her parents – this may be something from her past with Jordan she just wants to forget.

Clearly it was either a mistake or just a case of the writers giving her the good girl persona that doesn’t do anything that good girls normally don’t do etc… Not a big deal, stuff in soaps gets changed all the time.
Perhaps at the wedding Nikki ordered 2 non-alcoholic drinks – since Nikki does t drink. Or she could have taken a just a sip during the toast. Also when Claire was drinking by herself she could have been drinking non-alcoholic wine. There are such things as non-alcoholic beverages you can buy.
