Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Kyle Fights Summer’s Pull – Lola Puts Up Her Walls

Kyle (Michael Mealor) knows that resisting Summer (Hunter King) won’t be easy on ‘The Young and the Restless’? While his feelings for Lola (Sasha Calle) are stronger than those he’s retained for Summer, there’s no denying that Miss Newman’s return to Genoa City has already made his current relationship status awkward.

Lola quickly proved to be a far better match for Kyle than the new Summer was. New in this instance means the devolved version of King’s character that Y&R invented upon the actor’s full-time return to the cast last June.

Yes, Kyle and Lola, now fondly referred to as ‘Kola’ by their fans, have worked through some relationship growth issues. Lola was having a hard time adjusting to Kyle’s monied lifestyle, while Kyle has been patiently adjusting to a woman of principle who doesn’t want to act on the types of amoral things that Summer was ever-willing to do and still is.

‘Syle’ was once (during Lachlan Buchanan’s run as Kyle) a back-burner couple in Genoa City. The enhanced edition of Summer and Kyle, as portrayed by Mealor, promoted the updated duo as two very immature, impulsive, young adults. That’s why ‘Kola’ became such a stark contrast option for Mr. Abbott last year.

Lola’s rapid advancement in GC’s foodie culture allowed her to gain the head chef spot at Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Devon’s (Bryton James) soon to open restaurant. Set as a location where the trendy and perceived elite will meet, Lola knows that scoring hard with this opportunity could propel her career to heights that would have otherwise taken years to achieve.

So, Kyle hasn’t and likely won’t be seeing as much of Lola in the near future. That, unfortunately, gives Summer an angle to work. As Kyle will become aware, Summer’s so doing will allow his one-time girlfriend to gain dangerous leverage in his life.

Summer is employing a classic Newman long-term strategy. She’s concealing true intentions about her former boyfriend in hopes of getting her way with him later. Summer’s goal is to allow ‘Kola’ to implode of its own weight, which will then allow her an open shot at Kyle’s heart. Lola is too distracted to clearly see this threat, but will hopefully recognize it in enough time to fight for her man.
