Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Neil Winters’ Exit Story Arrives – Kristoff St. John’s Tribute Kicks Off

‘The Young and the Restless’ will honor the life of Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) and the character he played starting this week. St. John’s legacy will rightly be center stage through a series of episodes that take place where Neil lived, Genoa City. Y&R will also celebrate the actor’s life by having various current and former actors speak about their friend and colleague through a special tribute episode that will air on April 29.

St. John’s sudden passing occurred due to hypertrophic heart disease. By the age of 52, he’d left a mark in the entertainment world and in the lives of his family members and friends that is laudable.

Neil and Drucilla Barber (Victoria Rowell), who later became his on-screen wife, formed one of the most dynamic daytime pairings in the 1990’s, long before couple nicknames became the rage via social media more than a decade later.

Together, the Winters raised a daughter, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), who was later SORAS’d and eventually married Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard). The Ashby’s gave Neil his two, beloved grandchildren, Mattie Ashby (Lexie Stevenson) and Charlie Ashby (Noah Alexander Gerry).

As devoted fans know, Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) was revealed as Lily’s biological father. Both Rowell and Moore will be returning to honor their friend, with Moore reprising his character, who is Neil’s brother.

Neil and Dru also adopted a son, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). Devon’s late wife, Hilary Hamilton (Mishael Morgan), initially targeted Neil upon arriving in GC. However, the power of forgiveness allowed them to marry, which was before ‘Hevon’ came to be.

Moses Winters (as last played by Dax Randall in 2016) is Neil’s third child. Julia Pace Mitchell, (Sofia Dupre), who played Moses’ mother will also be returning to Y&R for the special episodes.

Soap opera fans become emotionally connected to the characters they see on screen and to the actors who portray them for many reasons. One of those elements involves the greatness of the actor, which St. John surely was.

Episodic entertainment, which, in the case of daytime dramas, generates weekly shows year-round, allows devoted viewers to spend many hours with familiar faces. The aforementioned social media has enabled fans to have some access to the off-screen lives of many people, including entertainers.

St. John’s life, like that of every human being, matters. Yes, the presence tense is correct, as those individuals who are no longer physically here still live within the hearts and minds of all who knew them.
