The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Custody Fight Brewing For Abby And Chance’s Son Dominic

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that viewers were highly amused with the blanket baby new parents Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) and Chance Chancellor (Connor Floyd) kept cooing at for months. COVID-19 restrictions meant that a real baby was not possible until very recently. For some reason viewers seized on the obvious fake baby as a talking point and had fun making fun of it.

Alas, Abby now has a real baby to hold, but even she and her costars got in on the fun of the make believe baby. She recently talked to Soap Opera Digest about the laughs the cast had with the humorous bundle.

She noted that the actors took pains to treat the doll as a newborn, cradling its neck and, “being super-gentle with it.” But when the cameras were off it was a different story. “We would be so unprofessional. We would toss the baby doll around to each other or throw it back into the bassinet like a basketball.”

She noted that she was so over, “pretending for hours that this inanimate object is a real baby, the last thing I wanted to do was play with dolls.” So for a while there she had to tell her two daughters, “Sorry, but Mommy is done with dolls for the day.”

Y&R spoilers – Will Devon Hamilton Gain Custody Of Dominic?

Baby Dominic was conceived with Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) sperm using Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) womb. The conception took place when Chance and Abby were newlyweds, but oddly, Chance was MIA. That’s because he was off on a secret mission and only recently returned. While he was gone Abby was ill-equipped to be a mom, let alone a single one–despite all the resources available to an heiress.

Chance is home now but both Mariah and Devon got close to the little one and have struggled to let go. Devon is now gearing up for a custody battle in what promises to be a nasty fight against friends. Is Chance suffering from PTSD, is he not a good choice to be parenting right now, especially when he seems more excited to get his old job back than change diapers? Since half the town is invested in the parties involved, it will be interesting to see where loyalties lay once the battle starts brewing.
