The 1883 prequel to the beloved modern-day western by Taylor Sheridan, Yellowstone, is almost here and fans are sure to be on the edge of their seats with anticipation.
Yellowstone – 1883 Trailer Begins Right Off With A Gunfight
On Friday, December 3, Paramount + released a new trailer for the new prequel series, 1883 and fans are excited. The film features Faith Hill and Tim McGraw as Margaret and James Dutton. The new western, which premieres on December 19, also features famed western actor, Sam Elliot as cowboy Shea Brennan.
As the trailer begins, we are instantly transported to the dusty west with the smell of gunpowder in the air as James Dutton (Tim McGraw) faces off in a violent gunfight. Not long after, Shea Brennon and his fellow cowboys ride on to the scene to check on Dutton. As they ride up, Dutton says, “So y’all just sit and watch?” Brannon responds in classic Sam Elliot drawl, “You looked like you had it figured.”
Yellowstone – ‘We’re Headin North Till I Find Country That’s Worth the Journey’
Later in the trailer, we see James Dutton meet his family at the train and say, “We’re headin north till I find country that’s worth the journey.” Of course, Shea has to warn against the journey telling everyone that it will be “dangerous all the way to Oregon.”
Later, Dutton tells his wife Margaret (Faith Hill), “I believe in you, I believe in our boy, and I believe in our daughter, and that’s all.”
Further on we see and, apparently, deputized Shea Brennan telling a crowd, “You can police yourselves, or I can do it,” right before we see him kicking someone in the face.
From the trailer, we see that the west portrayed therein is a rough business, but it would have to be to produce someone as hard as the John Dutton we know from Yellowstone. We see hints of gun battles and cannons firing as well as war-painted Natives burning wagons and buildings.
Yellowstone – Stellar Cast Of Memorable Actors
Along with McGraw and Hill (both 54), we are going to be treated with memorable acting from the likes of Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton, Isabel May (Young Sheldon), and LaMonica Garrett (Sons of Anarchy).
“We’re all pretty excited about it,” McGraw said in a video on his Instagram page, adding, “Faith and I get to star alongside Sam Elliott. I mean, goodness gracious.”
1883 premieres December 19 on Paramount +. Return here often for 1883 spoilers, news, and updates.
