Beyond Yellowstone: A Guide To Upcoming Spinoffs – Taylor Sheridan’s Universe Keeps Expanding

Now that Costner is not slated to return, it looks like there may indeed be talks of a sixth season of the neo-western series, this time starting Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser who play Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. Initially, it was thought that they were going to head over to The Madison, the upcoming Yellowstone sequel, but they may be staying in their old stomping grounds for a time yet now that the family patriarch, John Dutton III is effectively out of the picture.

We were all left hanging back in January of 2023 when the last episode of season 5A aired, and due to the WGA strike we had to wait a long time to get our beloved series back – but here it is, slated to premiere on Nov. 10th, 2024. At long last (17months, to be exact), we get to know what happened to our beloved characters.

Yellowstone Spoilers – Filming Has already begun

Cole Hauser posted pictures from the Montana set on his Instagram page, Kelly Reilly however had some things still left to film in Texas before she headed up north to Dutton territory.

We don’t exactly know how many episodes of Yellowstone 5B there will be yet, and it’s rather unclear what order they will be in, but we are getting the series back and it will have at least somewhat of a conclusion, even if that conclusion was 17 months in the making. Good things come to those who wait.

YS Spoilers – The Prequel Universe Keeps Expanding!

The depression-era prequel series, 1923, that follows Helen Mirren’s Cara Dutton and Harrison Ford’s Jacob Dutton will be returning for a second season much to the excitement of fans.

This was another series put on-hold by the WGA strike, even though the second, eight episode season was ordered back in 2023 during the show’s mid-season hiatus.

Shooting progress is slow, but as of May the filming has moved from Butte Montana, to Austin, Texas and officially started in July.

They are slated to film until September or October of this year, which means that season 2 of 1923 wouldn’t premiere on Paramount Plus until spring of 2025 or later.

Yellowstone Spoilers – First Look At The Madison

This will be Yellowstone’s first contemporary spin-off, it follows wealthy matriarch and grieving widow Michelle Pfieffer as she moves her family to the Madison River Valley after two tragic deaths.

It is described as being a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection.” The star-studded cast also includes, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Beau Garrett, Amiah Miller, and Matthew Fox.

The exact date for The Madison’s premiere has not been announced yet, but it is safe to say that it will probably air sometime after the conclusion of season 5B on Paramount Plus.

There is also no word as of yet as to whether The Madison will air on regular TV or will be a streaming service only option.

YS Spoilers – Even more spin-offs?

Taylor Sheridan is serious about this cinematic universe he’s created. He is also creating 6666, which would cover Jimmy’s storyline where he went down to the Four Sixes ranch to become a real cowboy.

Apparently Sheridan was so serious about this venture that he purchased the ranch for $320 million back in 2022, an investment and final step that would help in bringing his universes to life. But so far little else has been said about this particular spin-off so who knows when it will crop up?

There is also talks of 1944, a series that will follow the younger generation of 1923 into their lives and revealing even more Dutton family history. At this point it wouldn’t be far off to assume that there will be other decades made into spin-offs as well, but we shall see. Stay tuned!!!
