For instance, Blake Kleinsasser (Michael Raymond-James) was the oldest son and heir apparent of the messy and messed up ranching family. He met a gruesome end when he was nearly decapitated by his own brother John Wayne (Kyle Schmid). He did not survive the scalping.

Big Sky stars Kylie Bunbury, Katheryn Winnick, John Carroll Lynch, Brian Geraghty, Natalie Alyn Lind, Jesse James Keitel, Valerie Mahaffey, Jade Pettyjohn, and Dedee Pfeiffer and it roared out of the box, quickly becoming must-see tv for fans hooked on quirky drama and explosive, unpredictable action.

Showrunner Elwood Reid recently spoke about the show’s combustible mix of drama and the unexpected. He said, “It’s become this thing on Big Sky because we’re doing a show that killed off Ryan Phillippe and the audience is like, ‘Holy s–t, anything can happen to anybody on this show.’”

Fans expecting to see the major motion picture star was stunned to see him killed off in the debut but that hasn’t stopped throngs of fans from flocking to the sizzling ABC hit show.

Reid sums up fans’ anticipation by saying, “We say, ‘It’s Big Sky. You’re gonna die.’ It’s fun; it creates this anxiety with viewers where they think, ‘I don’t want to give my heart to this character because they could end up dead next week’ — and I think that’s what brings people back to the show.”
