And yes, Blue Bloods believers: Your fave show made the list of renewals! Ready to find out how the stars and fans reacted to the premiere date news? Keep reading for everything you need to know about season 12!

Blue Bloods Season 12 Gets Premiere Date

Like the other major networks, CBS tends to wait until mid-summer to decide premiere dates for the new and returning shows.

As a result, Blue Bloods fans had to wait until now to learn the fate of their beloved drama. And the results are (drumroll, please): We’ll have to wait an unusually long time for the premiere.

Although CBS gave similar dramas such as NCIS, NCIS: Hawai’i, FBI: Most Wanted, and  FBI: International premiere dates in September, Blue Bloods does not debut in 2021 until October.

Deadline reports that the October debut date will see Blue Bloods following two other dramas, one of which is in a new time slot.

On Friday, October 1, Blue Bloods season 12 will premiere following S.W.A.T. (Season 5 premiere; new time slot) at 8 to 9 pm and, at 9-10 pm, Magnum P.I. (Season 4 premiere). That puts the debut of Blue Bloods season 12 in the 10-11 pm time slot.

Fans React To Blue Bloods Season 12 Premiere Date

Blue Bloods’ Twitter account tweeted the good news with the perfect photo and post.

“We’re gathering around the dinner table again! The new season of #BlueBloods premieres October 1st,” shared Blue Bloods.

And fans responded with joy, with hundreds of retweets, likes, and comments.

One frequent reaction: Pleas from viewers for their favorite characters to steal the spotlight.

“More Joe!!!” reacted one Blue Bloods fan to the news. “Less Interference from Eddy when Jamie is trying to do his job. Happiness for Erin.”

Blue Bloods Stars Share Premiere Date Reactions: ‘Psyched!’

Actress Bridget Moynahan, who portrays Erin Reagan on Blue Bloods, didn’t weigh in on whether her character deserves more happiness (we think she does!) in season 12. But Moynahan did turn to Twitter to react to the premiere date excitement.

“Who is psyched for season 12 of Blue Bloods on CBS?!” tweeted the actress.

With 2 thousand “likes” in response, we suspect that Bridget got the reaction she deserves!

And just as with the main announcement from the Blue Bloods Twitter account, Moynahan received pleas for potential story lines for her character of Erin.

“I hope Erin will finally find romance during season 12!” reacted one fan.

Another fan tweeted a possible plot twist.

“Jamie and Eddie could make you an Auntie,” suggested one Blue Bloods viewer.

Bridget also got a reaction from another Blue Bloods actor.

Steven Schirripa (Detective Anthony Abetemarco on Blue Bloods) expressed his own “psyched” feelings.

So will Erin find a happy romance in season 12? Will Jamie (portrayed by Will Estes) become a proud parent in upcoming episodes?
