Blue Bloods Spoilers – Jamie Reagan Punished An Officer For A Third Tardy
As viewers who saw the episode will recall, Jamie had punished an officer working under him, Officer Luis Diaz (Jacob Dickey) for a third time tardy. Diaz explained that his wife is expecting a baby and having a lot of problems with morning sickness. Still, Jamie could not let it slide since by the books Jamie couldn’t fit morning sickness into an intermittent family leave of only a few hours! Jamie gave Diaz street duty, and Eddie intervened. She pleaded with Jamie to drop the demotion, but Jamie wouldn’t.
Eddie later revealed to Jamie that she had been pressed to serve as a temporary union representative at the precinct, and she didn’t want to get into a situation where she would have to speak out officially against him to their superior officer in order to plead Diaz’s case. However, that dreaded outcome happened anyway since Eddie failed to convince Jamie to drop the case against Diaz’s tardies.
Jamie insisted he couldn’t let it slide anymore after two times previously letting it slide, and he and Eddie got into quite an argument over it. Eddie applauded Diaz for supporting his wife, when they had to meet before their superior, Captain Espinoza (Luis Antonio Ramos). Eddie, in an awkward position, had to tell Espinoza that “Captain Reagan” is the kind of man who would leave his sick wife at home to fend for herself while off to work he goes!
Blue Bloods Spoilers – Captain Espinoza Ruled In Favor Of Jamie Reagan’s Actions
Captain Espinoza wound up ruling in favor of Jamie’s actions towards Diaz, in spite of Eddie noting that Diaz couldn’t just make his wife’s morning sickness go away. Jamie told her he expected Diaz to make the necessary adjustments in his household so he could get to work on time, whether that be finding a friend or relative to stay with her, or whatever.
Worth noting, it wasn’t mentioned if the Diazes had any other small children in addition to the bun in the oven! However, even though Jamie didn’t admit that Eddie had talked him into reversing his decision, he took off Diaz’s punishment. He told her that a higher-up made the decision even though Eddie said she knew better. He asked her if she thought he did it for her, and she leaned in and said softly, “For us”. Jamie still denied it and Eddie believed him, but as he walked away, Jamie’s body language told on him as he began walking in a certain way.
Some viewers took it that he was walking like a pregnant woman, inferring that Eddie perhaps is expecting! Maybe it meant that he was looking forward to children in the future. Other family drama in the episode included Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) agreeing to see a therapist when he failed to get his old friend Sid Gormley (Robert Clohessy) to after his longtime partner died suddenly, Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) clashing with her boss DA Kimberly Crawford (Roslyn Ruff) after the DA thought Erin didn’t know how to act in court, and Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) proving his partner Detective Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) innocent in the death of a personal trainer found dead on her front lawn. Fans will have to tune in the rest of the season to find out if Eddie is pregnant, as if she is, it will certainly be the subject of a future episode!
