Blue Bloods Spoilers: Donnie Wahlberg Talks About Large Cast Problem On CBS Show

Blue Bloods Spoilers: Donnie Wahlberg Talks About Problems With Such A Large CastBlue Bloods spoilers tease that Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Detective Danny Reagan, says that the Blue Bloods show has some problems with such a large ensemble cast.

Blue Bloods Spoilers – A Long Running TV Show Means Castmates Are Like Family, But Some You Only See On Holidays!

Donnie says that a large ensemble cast on a long running show like Blue Bloods is not always a good thing. While being on a long running show can mean you become close to your castmates and they become like your family, if it’s too large they become like your family you only see on holidays and then maybe a few years in between said holidays! The show has been on for eleven years now, debuting in 2010 and has always has a large cast. It is difficult to have scenes with everyone even over that long of a time span, with some characters interacting only rarely.

Donnie says it’s hard on him that he’s barely had any scenes with Will Estes recently, who plays his younger brother on the show, Jamie Reagan. Of course, there is always the family dinner scene that is in every episode, but those scenes are comparatively short and not everyone even talks – some just eat and drink. Donnie says that they have a great cast and it’s full of great people, but some of those great people only get to be in a scene together occasionally – like maybe once in every two or three years! You can really tell that Donnie likes to socialize with his castmates on set, can’t you?! That is not necessarily a bad thing either!

Blue Bloods Spoilers – Donnie Wahlberg Says They Have A Lot Of Fun On The Show

One positive thing Donnie talks about is that they have a lot of fun on the show. Even after this many years, they are having more fun than ever. Blue Bloods has been the number one Friday night show for ten years now and Donnie doesn’t see that changing any time soon. Ratings have dropped a little bit over the last couple of seasons or so, but not enough to worry about. It’s still holding strong and in its most recent completed season, averaged nearly twelve million viewers. That’s impressive! Donnie talks more about the problems with not seeing or acting in scenes with everyone because of there being too many people. Most of his storylines recently have been involving Danny’s partner, Detective Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez), so they have been more investigation and action scenes. He’s only had occasional scenes with other Reagan family members lately.

Blue Bloods centers around the Reagan family, who is a family historically working in law enforcement. Grandpa Henry Reagan (Len Cariou) was a cop. Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), Danny and Jamie’s father is the police commissioner. Jamie is a cop. Sister Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynihan) is a district attorney. The storylines have ranged from ones involving police misconduct or brutality, to just plain old good detective work and taking down the bad guys and bringing them to justice. With the nature of the show, Donnie says, sometimes it’s difficult to avoid have those “tough conversations” considering the current climate regarding police. Hopefully there will be more and longer family dinner scenes so at least all the Reagan family portrayers can interact with one another!

Good show and Donnie Wahlberg is an accomplished actor. When the time comes, I’d like to see him in a spin-off show based on his character. A Dirty Harry- type.
