Beloved for shows such as “Malcolm In The Middle,” legendary actor Bryan Cranston just teased a reboot of the sitcom. And the actor shared that his curiosity to revisit his show family has motivated him. But one of Cranston’s former co-stars also weighed in.
Find out what made the “Malcolm in the Middle” actor so eager for a reunion. And learn about a possible reboot. Get all the details below.
Bryan Cranston – Hints At ‘Malcolm In The Middle’ Revival
On the list of memorable sitcoms, “Malcolm In the Middle” ranks high. And actor Bryan Cranston recently began thinking how that fictional family would fare. Before the sitcom ended in 2006, Cranston portrayed patriarch Hal for all seven seasons. And Bryan teased a reboot in the form of a 20th anniversary reunion project from the show’s creator Linwood Boomer, according to People.
“I’m curious about that family 20 years later,” admitted Cranston. And he listed the questions that he wanted answered. For instance, “what happened to them? Where are they? What are the kids doing? They’re grown men now,” pointed out the actor. Cranston also revealed that he will retire after finishing that revival reboot.
But the actor, who won four of his six Emmy Awards for his role as Walter White in Breaking Bad, admitted how much he misses his “Malcolm in the Middle” co-stars. Those include Frankie Munez, Christopher Masterson, Justin Berfield, Erik Per Sullivan, and Catherine Lloyd Burns. In addition, Cranston co-starred with seven-time Emmy nominee Jane Kaczmarek, who portrayed Hal’s wife Lois.
As he looks back, Bryan praised the “great family on that [show]. And I certainly would be open to that if there was a good idea that came up like, ‘Oh, that would be fantastic to explore what happened to this family 20 years later,'” he said about the idea of a reboot. “That would be fun to do.”
‘Malcolm In The Middle’ – Star Teases Return
Muniz, who portrayed Cranston’s son on the show, expressed enthusiasm for returning to the role as Malcolm. And the actor shared, “When I was on Malcolm, I was just so excited to be working on a show. But also, in that same sense, when the show ended, I kind of left the business for a little bit. I started doing other things.”
For instance, Muniz began “racing cars. I joined a band [and] was touring all over,” added the actor. “And I got to experience so many amazing things in my life. Which now at this point has made me able to reflect and look back and be so appreciative of the experience.” The 36-year-old also shared some details about the script, which Cranston has begun writing. “And getting everything rolling,” added Muniz of his former co-star.
But Bryan also reflected on his retirement. “I want to change the paradigm once again,” Cranston said. “For the last 24 years, Robin has led her life holding onto my tail. She’s been the plus one, she’s been the wife of a celebrity,” he admitted. As a result, his wife “had to pivot and adjust her life based on mine. She has tremendous benefit from it,” added Bryan. “But we’re uneven. I want to level that out. She deserves it.”
