Buffy The Vampire’ Reboot Casts New Slayer: Here’s Everything We Know About The Character

Without a slayer, how can a generation survive the threats of the netherworld? As you guys might well remember, the OG Buffy Sarah Michelle Gellar promised us that if a reboot ever gets made made, it will be because they have worked out how to make it in the right and best way, whilst also honoring the memory of the original show.

‘Buffy’ Reboot Announces New Female Lead, Named Nova

It won’t be a ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ world if we don’t have a strong and fearless woman at its core.

Even though ‘Buffy’ went off air in 2003, it has managed to retain a strong audience and I’m pleased to know that they’re thinking about the OG audience every step of the way, even as they continue to look forward to capturing the hearts of new ones.

Every day the sun rises and falls, we get closer to getting the pilot episode of the ‘Buffy’ reboot, which will reportedly see Gellar return in her titular role. She will then do guest appearances throughout the episodes.

While she sort of takes a backseat, the slayer position is by no means empty, and according to new reports, it will be occupied by a 16-year-old enthusiastic girl named Nova, who will get her training at the hands of the one and only Buffy.

Nova is described as intelligent and possessing some socially awkward skills – though, at the moment, Nova might strictly be a placeholder name for this character.

Happily, she won’t be embarking on the world of hunting demons and ghouls and every other thing in between alone.

Despite being a loner, her quest will be helped on by the addition of Hugo, an out-and-proud nerd who comes from money, and Gracie, a young expert on vampires who’s an acolyte of Gellar’s Buffy. Last we heard, casting for all three roles has begun.

Everything We Know About ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Reboot

This reboot is already being tagged as an expansion of the ‘Buffyverse,’ with Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman attached as writers, showrunners and executive producers.

Oscar award-winning director Chloé Zhao has been tapped to direct and executive produce. Additional EPs include Gellar, Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui and Dolly Parton.
