Meanwhile, CEO of Friendly Family Productions, Trip Friendly, noted that it has been a long-time dream of his to carry his father’s legacy by adapting the, “… Wilder’s classic American stories for a 21st-century audience in a way that brings together fans of both the books and the original television series.”

Fans of both the show and the books enjoyed Wilder’s view of growing up in the American West, circa 1800s, and the simplistic, yet dramatic, life that came with it all. The books were published during the Great Depression in the 1930s, before they were adapted for the TV series.

The show catapulted the careers of both Michael Landon, who played the Ingalls’ family patriarch, Charles Ingalls, as well as actress Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Little House on the Prairie debuted on September 11, 1974, on NBC, and ran until May 10, 1982, winning a number of accolades along the way, including four Primetime Emmys and two People’s Choice awards.
