Riverdale is a show that seems to torment and tempt its audience by putting the characters through all sorts of trauma. This has happened before in season 4 and might be happening again. It was surprising to see that the plotline at the end of season 3 which was hyped by other installments showed that Jughead died. Meanwhile, fans were relieved to find out that their favorite beanie-wearing character faked his death.
Is Jughead Dead On Riverdale?
However, the fake death plot at that time made fans wonder if Cole Sprouse was leaving Riverdale like his fellow actors Skeet Ulrich (FP Jones) and Marisol Nichols (Hermione Lodge). Fortunately, it seemed at that time the Jughead actor was not hanging his beanie anytime soon.
His character’s storyline gave viewers a bit of scare, bringing up the question if his role could be written off the show. Cole Sprouse opened up to Variety Live in February 2021, when it was first assumed that he might be leaving Riverdale, that for as long as the show is on, he would continue to have fun while working on it with his closest friend. He mentioned that it is a privilege to be a hard-working actor.
He added that everything had a shelf life but with Riverdale’s large audience and as long as he can inspire people through the show then it is the currency of acting.
The same thing seems to be happening again now as it seems the Jughead is dead but like last time the body is nowhere to be seen, even though we have seen that bloody page. One of the trademarks of this show is that, unless there is a body, the person might still be alive somewhere.
Is Cole Sprouse Leaving Riverdale For Real?
As of now, there is no public indicator that Cole Sprouse is leaving Riverdale and the Jughead character. Practically, the Jughead actor could be leaving the show anytime soon considering that there are likely a lot of other opportunities out there for him. Of course, the possible twist in the story is inevitable, I mean there is no need for a “is Jughead dead?” suspenser time and again if he is always fine.
At the same time, we do not want Jughead dead as he is very important to the show and there is a lot more story to be told.
We hope that this is just some sort of way for the producers to keep people’s excitement for the return of the show this summer. Summer is a long wait and an especially big suspenser is needed to make the wait worthwhile.
According to a report gotten from The Futon Critic, the show would be returning to CW on Wednesday, 7th of July, though the date has not been confirmed by CW yet.
