When there’s a good story, ‘Law & Order: SVU’ alum Stephanie March knows there’s a way. In other words, the star is ready to reprise her role if and when she gets the call to do so.
Stephanie March Suggests Fans Should Petition For Her Character To Be Brought Back To the ‘Law & Order’ Spinoff
Any ‘Law & Order’ fan would definitely recall Stephanie March, who played Alexandra “Alex” Cabot on ‘Law & Order: SVU’ as a series regular for the first four seasons. She then switched to a recurring role for more episodes. However, these days, her appearances on the crime drama have simply dried up.
What’s her future in the show, you ask?
During an exclusive chat with People Magazine at the City Harvest Presents The 2025 Gala: Carnaval in New York City on Tuesday, April 22, the actress, 50, touched on what’s next for her ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ character.
“I think it would depend on the story, but they’ve got some good writers. Never say never, right?” March said, before seemingly nudging fans to campaign for her return. “I guess if people still write, you could do a write-in campaign. That would be my only suggestion.”
The important thing for the ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ actress is that she is still good chums with her old ‘SVU’ castmates.
“The good news is I get to see Chris [Meloni] and Mariska [Hargitay] and BD [Wong] and all of those other wonderful people with regularity, so that’s good,” she shared.
March also talked about the happy thoughts she has towards her former castmates, saying, “I just hope they keep their jobs like the rest of us,” she says. “That’s the most you can hope for any actor right now. Just keep … our jobs.”
Stephanie March On How Starring In ‘SVU’ Impacted Her Private Life
In a previous interview with People, March talked about how the cases she deals with in SVU shaped the life she’s living and motivated her to work with the Panzi Foundation, which aids survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
She said, “I remember it very clearly,” she said of the season 11 episode, titled “Witness.”
“And it was kind of stuck in my head at the time. And so I have to believe that to some degree, everything happens for a reason,” she says. “I’m not sure that when I got the job, I intended for this to happen, but once I had the job, I became pretty deliberate about it because the subject matter I found disturbing and compelling. It was just not something I could put away when I came home at night from work.”
She added: “So, I became quite deliberate in my choices of how I wanted to participate and how I wanted to use my voice. And I have been lucky enough to find a few places where those interests intersect, and I’m very passionate about it.”
