CSI News – CSI Is Officially Getting A New Series

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation premiered on the CBS network on October 6, 2000 and remained running for 15 seasons, ending on September 27, 2015 with 337 as the total number of episodes in the franchise before it ended. It was the first in the CSI franchise and saw spin-offs such as CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, and CSI: Cyber.

The movie received wide-spread and strong audience reception when it aired, spawning three spin-off series, a book series, several video games, and an exhibit at Chicago’s museum of Science and Industry. At the time of its cancellation, CSI was the seventh-longest running scripted U.S. primetime TV series overall.

CSI became the second most watched show on American television by 2002. In 2002-2003, it finally came out on top as the most watched show. It was later named the most watched show in the world for the sixth time in 2016, making it the most watched show for more years than any other show.

The movie received several awards, including six Primetime Emmy awards and was nominated for six Golden Globe Awards amongst others.

CSI News – The New And The Old Cast

It was originally supposed to be a limited series when filming began in late 2020, with William Petersen and Jorja Fox reprising their roles early on. In February 2021, Matt Lauria, Paula Newsome and Mel Rodriquez joined the cast and it was announced that the event series was nearing a series order.

In March, it was announced that Mandeep Dhillion is joining the cast, with Wallace Langham reprising his role as David Hodges. On Wednesday, it was officially given a straight-to-series order.

CSI News – CBS On Trying To Ignite The Rranchise With CSI: Vegas

The movie brought crime investigators to the public audience in new and exciting ways, a thing that the real-world crime investigators call misleading and false, stating that crime investigation is boring and tedious, and mostly, the crimes don’t get solved, and even if it did, it was never as dramatic as the process that’s portrayed by the movie.

The movie had its critics, especially on the area of explicit sex and violence in the series, and probably that’s not something they would be rethinking with the new series. According to CBS, the new series is about “a brilliant new team of forensic investigators” who “must welcome back old friends and deploy new techniques to preserve and serve Justice in Sin City” as they face “an existential threat that could bring down the Crime Lab.”

The old cast is probably there to bring a sense of nostalgia to the audience, and the first two casts announced, William Petersen and Jorja Fox, are a big favorite with the audience. Fun fact: Jorja Fox has once had a massive campaign run by fans of the show for the sole purpose of keeping her on the show, including a plane flying over the Universal Studios of Los Angeles with a banner that reads “keep Jorja Fox on CSI”, along with fans donating money in order to save Fox’s contract.
