The Show’s Premiere Episode was Record-Breaking In More Than One Way
After its supersized first episode, the impressed network felt they didn’t need to see anymore before handing out a second season renewal to Superman & Lois.
With amazing ratings that saw The CW have its most watched night of primetime in more than two years, the explosively popular premiere was more than enough to convince the network.
The Intriguing Pilot Saw Clark Kent And Lois Lane As Out-Of-Work Journalists And Parents
Superman & Lois which stars Hoechlin and Tulloch in the titular roles of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, a couple who lose their jobs in journalism and end up moving back to the Kent family farm when Clark’s mother dies.
The pilot episode of the series which showed the couple’s twin boys -who were also beginning to show evidence of super powers- learning that their father is Superman, had the best day one streaming debut ever for a new show on the network making the renewal a no brainer.
CW Chairman And CEO Mark Pedowitz Has Only Good Things To Say About The New Show
In a gushing statement about the series’ successful premiere, Mark Pedowitz, CW Chairman and CEO, said : “The phenomenal multiplatform debut of Superman & Lois, which delivered for us in a big way on both a linear and streaming basis, is a testament to the creativity, hard work and dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera, especially in this challenging environment.”
He added, “We are thrilled to now have two brand-new bonafide hits in Superman & Lois and Walker, both of which have been renewed for next season along with 11 others of our shows, further positioning us for continued strength and stability for next season.”
Superman & Lois Are Not The Only Shows Which Have Scored Early Renewals
The renewal is not surprising also because nearly every other show on the network, including Walker, the other new series which debuted this spring, have already been picked up for more seasons.
Other shows returning to The CW after scoring early renewals this season are All American, Batwoman, Charmed, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, The Flash, In the Dark, Legacies, Nancy Drew, Riverdale, and Roswell, New Mexico.
