Fans of Dexter will recall that Deb was “really, most sincerely dead” when Dexter (Michael C Hall) took her from life support and dumped her lifeless body in the sea.
But in this new spinoff series, Deb is back.
Dexter News – Deb Morgan Will Be A Ghostly Thorn In Dexter’s Side
In the Showtime spinoff series Deb returns and this time she’s had enough of her brother’s serial-killing ways.
According to USA Today, the Dexter series spinoff is actually a 10-part critically-panned reimagining of the 2013 finale.
Deb doesn’t actually return in person, but will instead be Dexter Morgan’s “increasingly agitated” inner voice.
She’ll go unseen by the citizens of Dexter’s new home town in Iron Lake, New York, and apparently, she’s not going to let her brother continue is murderous ways without an annoying fight.
“This time I get to drive a nail into your side. This time I get to suffocate you; I get to make you hurt” Jennifer Carpenter told USA Today describing her newly revised role.
The actor added that it was very satisfying to portray a Deb that had some control of things.
Carpenter had a few more things to tell USA Today, here are the basics.
Dexter News – Jennifier Carpenter On her Return As Deb Morgan
“She always thought it was a choice, or a bad habit,” carpenter says of her characters take on her brothers penchant for murder.
Of course, according to Carpenter, in reality, the part took its toll.
The actor tells USA Today that she had to advocate for her character to die in season 8, saying, “She was such a visceral part of me, we needed to part in the healthiest way,” adding that the parting was Deb went was the healthiest way for Carpenter.
That said, she also voiced her feelings that the way Deb was disposed on felt cold to her and that she wished the Dexter character had “shown that he was sad” for Deb.
Fans interested in reconnecting with the popular serial killer can catch new episodes of Dexter: New Blood Sundays at 8 and 11 PM Central on Showtime.
I am glad that Deb Morgan came and will be part of Dexter life.
