Let’s just say that fans were not impressed when season 5B returned with the death of a major character. Think Kevin Costner’s John Dutton. Even though fans have known for a while that Kevin Costner would be leaving the show, they were still not amused by how the show handled his character’s departure. Luckily enough, this new episode calmed some of the fan rage down with this twist. Here’s the latest in ‘Yellowstone‘ developments.
Yellowstone Spoilers – How Taylor Sheridan Handled The Story Of John Dutton’s Killer
The fan hate has somewhat turned into joy at the newest development in the Western drama created by Taylor Sheridan.
They were halfway into filming the show when Kevin Costner dropped the bomb on everyone by revealing that he wants to leave and concentrate on his own project.
However, mind you, Sheridan insists Costner’s exit did very little to change the course of the show or its ending. All it did, according to him, was “truncate it.”
Killing off our favorite character is never easy, let alone Costner’s John Dutton, who is held in the same regards as ‘The Godfather,’ but it happens.
The patriarch was shot dead as the second half of season five returned. In the Paramount show, it was ruled apparent suicide, but viewers knew better.
It was a happy thing to find that in episode 11, John’s son Kayce caught up to the fact that the patriarch died in the hands of Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri), who put the hit on him.
In an attempt to tie up loose ends, she gets on the phone with John’s other son Jamie, but just as she is in the middle of another plot, she gets interrupted by a seemingly lost couple and was shot dead.
Yellowstone Spoilers – Fans Celebrate the Death of Dawn Olivieri’s Sarah Atwood
You can bet that the death of Sarah Atwood gave fans a means to release the heightened emotions they felt when Dutton was murdered.
One fan celebrated the twist on X, writing, “Ding dong, the b— is dead. Justice is coming!”
“Yellowstone is one the few shows that went MIA for years between seasons & came back w/ a bang!” another fan applauded. “Viewership is great.
Although John Dutton’s exit wasn’t ideal, the writing, vibes, music, drama & how it portrays ranching life is A+.” We have three more episodes to go, so who’s excited to know what’s in store?
