Fire Country spoilers for October 23 reveal that Station 42 continues to face mounting financial issues.

Key Takeaways
- Station 42 faces a funding crisis.
- Firefighters struggle with staff shortages.
- Bode fights to revive the volunteer department.
- INK performs at Smokey’s Bar.
- CJ’s growing bond with Bode raises questions.
Station 42’s Financial Struggles
Station 42 is underfunded and facing budget issues right now. Because of this, the station has become understaffed.
Of course, the station has also been picking up the slack for other fire departments that were damaged because of the flood at the end of last season.
Station 42 has been helping to cover Drake County as well.
As previously reported, Station 42 has been stretched thin since the devastating flood, leaving firefighters struggling to keep up with emergencies.
Of course, the fact that Station 42 came under fire recently and Jake Crawford (Jordan Calloway) was injured is no help either.
All of this comes after a huge sinkhole that took up the money needed for the fire station.
Street repairs obviously come before extra funding for the fire station or anything else going on in Edgewater currently.

Bode Leone Fights For The Volunteer Fire Department
Bode recently learned that Edgewater had a volunteer fire department, even though it has been inactive for some time.
After all, Station 42 and Three Rock have been handling things for some time now.
However, with the staff shortage and how thin the guys at Station 42 are being stretched to help other counties currently, something has to give.
Manny Perez (Kevin Alejandro) has given Bode his okay and even put him in charge of reactivating the volunteer fire department.
However, Manny also expressed his doubt that anyone will be willing to take on this task.
Can Bode prove Manny wrong and come up with a decent volunteer service to pick up the slack?
Bode has already faced some major challenges this season, including another dangerous wildfire that threatened Edgewater.
Smokey’s Heats Up With INK
After the fallout from Founders’ Day and the huge sinkhole rescue, INK will perform at Smokey’s for the town of Edgewater.
Of course, everyone in town needs a break after Jake’s shooting and the fallout from the sinkhole.
INK’s performance will give everyone a much-needed break from the chaos of the past two shows.
Fans will remember the devastating sinkhole disaster during the Season 5 premiere, which left Station 42 facing even more challenges.
Meanwhile, CJ Ryan (Olivia Thirlby) is becoming more involved in life in Edgewater and may even open up more about what led her to leave her last job and come to Edgewater.
Bode’s girlfriend is currently out of town, and he is working very closely with CJ.
He may attempt to get her to join the volunteer fire department if she is unable to join Station 42 currently.
Will this be a problem for his relationship?
Fire Country is full of drama and entertainment this week. You won’t want to miss a minute of the action.
Annemarie’s Take
I think Bode has his work cut out for him trying to get the volunteer fire department running again. Station 42 desperately needs help, but finding people willing to step up won’t be easy.
I’m also curious about CJ. She’s getting closer to Bode, and with his girlfriend away, I wouldn’t be surprised if that causes some trouble!
Do you think Bode can save the volunteer fire department, or is he taking on more than he can handle?
