The HBO Max special will reunite the six legendary icons of the popular NBC sitcom of its time, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer on an unscripted show set on Stage 24, the original Friends soundstage on the Warner Bros. Studio where the sitcom was filmed for 10 years, to mark its 25th anniversary.

It has landed 11 awards in all its nominations in the People’s Choice Awards, accumulated four awards out of 62 nominations in Primetime Emmy Awards, won twice out of 14 nominations in Screen Actors Guild Awards, and won the Golden Globe Awards once.

The Friends special reunion, directed by Ben Winston, has wrapped up filming as its official Instagram account confirmed in a recent post. It has also dropped the official list of the distinguished celebrity guests set to make cameo appearances including the former cast members Tom Selleck, (Monica’s former boyfriend Richard), and Maggie Wheeler (Chandler’s former partner Janice).

“I’ll Be There For You”

HBO Max, on Thursday, released the first trailer for the special which shows the silhouettes of the former six protagonists walking arm-in-arm with the instrumental of the show’s iconic theme song “I’ll Be There for You” by The Rembrandts.

“It was unbelievable. It was so emotional. It’s an unscripted reunion, but we got to be on Stage 24 for the first time, all of us in, like, I forgot how many years. 15 years? 17 years?” Courteney Cox said in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier this May.

The cast has also made it clear that the reunion is unscripted and the six actors will not be “in character.” Instead, they will talk about the series together.

“Well, we’re all sort of little fragments of them. Not really,” Aniston confirmed in her interview with Variety in 2020.

Reintroducing The Unforgotten

Lisa Kudrow has shared to Entertainment Weekly the reason they are coming back together: “We all loved — and love — each other. And genuinely had so much fun. And laughed for 10 years every day. We’re just really grateful.”

“When we have been able to get together — I think that’s maybe twice and not even all of us — some people remember to stuff the rest of us don’t remember at all. And then it’s fantastic. It’s like you’re being introduced to something that everybody else knows that you forgot,” she added.
