Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers: Sarah Drew & Jesse Williams Together Again

Sarah Drew left Grey’s Anatomy at the end of Season 14 in 2018 after playing the role of Dr. April Kepner for nine seasons, eight of them as a series regular. She began as a recurring character in Season 6 before getting promoted to a regular the following season.

After some speculation over Drew returning for a part in the current season, the fans’ wishes finally came true and Drew is back on the set of Grey’s Anatomy. The news of her appearance on an episode of Grey’s was exclusively revealed by Deadline on March 12. A few days later, Drew shared an on-set selfie with her onscreen ex-husband Jesse Williams, captioning the Instagram photo, “NBD. Not excited at all.” The picture is of the two wearing masks in a van on the way to the set.

Drew, who is now 40, had played the fan-favorite character Dr. April Kepner for almost a decade before she was written off the show in 2018. Her last moments on the show saw her character Dr. Kepner getting hitched to Matthew and quitting her job, even though most of Grey’s fans, and Drew herself, wished for her to end up with her ex, Dr. Jackson, whom she has a child with.

Williams, 39, also celebrated the reunion with a video of him getting into a car, only to find Drew already in the backseat. He captioned the video with a gift emoji.

Grey’s Anatomy News – Surprising Exit From Grey’s Anatomy

After her surprising exit at the end of season 14, Drew admitted that it would be hard for her to return to Grey’s again, but also adding that she wouldn’t completely rule out the possibility of her reprising her role.

“I’ll never say never because they are my family,” she told Entertainment Tonight in 2018. “I still love everyone over there. I love that community and I still have such an incredible space in my heart for everyone over there. But I really do feel like, because of how it went down, I really had to part ways with April, I just had to,” she revealed. “There was no way for me to live in a space of possibility of her returning and also be healthy in my letting go of all of it, so I really have said goodbye to her.”

Following Drew’s upcoming appearance on Grey’s Anatomy the long-running ABC series, she will join a host of several former stars who have recently made cameos in the show, including Patrick Dempsey and T.R. Knight.
