The ‘Yellowstone’ world has been growing bigger with every spinoff tearing away from the original, from the furthest throwback ‘1883’ – led by yours truly Tim McGraw – to the one that’ll be set in our modern times. For Ford, he only hopes that his character’s appearance is not limited to one ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff.
I don’t know how this might be managed, but I’m sure the genius that is Taylor Sheridan can manage to find a way if it ever comes to it.
Harrison Ford Talks ‘1923’ Season Finale
While it’s not been confirmed yet, the second season of ‘1923’ might turn out to be its last. If it does end, then it’s on to the next prequel series ‘1944’ for fans.
However, it might not be Ford’s last dance in the ‘Yellowstone’ world. The ‘Star Wars’ star spent May 4th not talking about the blockbuster franchise he was a part of for a long time, but promoting his most recent project at a FYC event for the series in Los Angeles.
Describing how the season finale made him feel, Ford – who played Jacob Dutton opposite Heren Mirren’s Beth Dutton – confessed that it “was fantastic — I thought it was very tight storytelling and I was absolutely delighted with it. It’s probably the densest script and work that I’ve had a chance to work on in a long, long time.”
Mirren then jokingly added of her character, saying she was “convinced that I was going to die so I was quite surprised I was still alive at the end of the show.”
But the most special thing for her as the season came to its tumbling conclusion was the moment she cradled baby John in her arms. “I love the fact that the future of Yellowstone is left in this tiny baby, in the arms of two older people, grandparents age. I thought that was a very interesting concept,” Mirren continued, referring to her final scene holding Alex and Spencer’s baby John. “And [creator] Taylor [Sheridan] now I think is going to do 1944 as I understand, so that will be interesting too, the next generation.”
Harrison Ford Confirms He Would Be Open To Returning To ‘Yellowstone’ Franchise if Creator Taylor Sheridan “Asks Nice”
At the moment it is important to note that Paramount has not yet confirmed that this second season will round up the good work that they’ve put into creating ‘1923.’
That said, it is very likely there won’t be additional seasons, as the network focuses on the next chronological show in the Yellowstone-verse, ‘1944.’
This means that in ‘1944,’ we will get introduced to a 20-year-old John Dutton II. Brandon Sklenar has expressed his desire to return to the series to play Spencer.
What this also means is that Ford and Mirren’s characters will be nearing a 100 in the new timeline, but does this bother them?
“I’m still alive,” Ford says of Jacob Dutton, adding that he would be interested in returning if Sheridan “asks nice.”
