As fans wait impatiently for news about the three NCIS series on CBS, finally some good news has been released.
CBS has decided on the fate of all three of the network’s NCIS series including the original, the first international show in the series Sydney, and the prequel Origins. On Thursday, February 20, good news came out from CBS about the three NCIS series. These include The Mothership for season 23, Sydney for season 3 and season 2 of Origins. Moreover, all three military procedural dramas were renewed, along with other favorites Fire Country and season 3 of Tracker. Read on for more details about the three drama series.
CBS renews all three NCIS dramas
According to Deadline, all three NCIS dramas have been renewed: The Mothership for season 23, Sydney for season 3, and season 2 of Origins. CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach spoke of the renewals, while praising the network’s top shows, saying:
This season, our new and returning series continue to showcase CBS as the leader in launching and programming the biggest hits with mass appeal for broadcast and streaming viewers.
About NCIS: Origins:

In 2024, NCIS: Hawaii viewers weren’t fans of the CBS Entertainment President but it looks like Reisenbach made the right decision. In fact, NCIS Origins did better than Hawaii. Just from streaming alone, Origins has attracted 9.2 million viewers, which is 72 percent higher than last year’s Hawaii.
While many fans were upset by the Hawaii cancelation, the Young Gibbs origin story enjoys a good following.
NCIS The Mothership
Meanwhile, The Mothership averages some 10.4 million multiplatform viewers, with streaming along 3 percent higher.
NCIS: Sydney

Meanwhile, Sydney averages around seven million viewers in Live+35 viewing.
NCIS: Tony & Ziva
As for the NCIS: Tony & Ziva series, the show is currently filming since late last summer and it still isn’t clear whether it will premiere on CBS or Paramount+. More details should be available in the coming weeks.
Origins just got started
NCIS fans know what to expect from the OG, while Sydney season 2 just started. However, it is not surprising that one of the Origins showrunners already has some ideas for the second season. Speaking to TV Line back in December, showrunner David J. North shared his vision for the next seasons.
He said the next season will include more flashbacks and while it has mostly been about Mike Franks, there will be some opportunities for Gibbs to travel back in time.
NCIS fans, are you excited that CBS has renewed all three series?
