Game Of Thrones News – Production Begins For House Of The Dragon

The production for the HBO Max series is officially underway and, as if that weren’t enough, the show has launched its very own Twitter profile. The network recently shared a series of pictures of the cast participating in a socially distanced table read.

“Fire will reign,” the tweet read, alongside a picture of the stars working in an almost circle arrangement. “The @HBO original series #HouseoftheDragon is officially in production. Coming soon to @HBOMax in 2022.”

House of the Dragon’s Twitter Page also posted the casting for the upcoming series along with the characters they are set to play. Matt Smith stars as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as The Sea Snake, and Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

House of the Dragon snatched a straight-to-series order from HBO Max shortly after the show was announced in late 2019. It was later announced that production for the series will begin in April during February’s Television Critics’ Association event.

The series is created by Ryan J. Condal and Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin. House of the Dragon will begin 300 years before the events viewers witnessed in the popular HBO drama and will feature the Targaryen civil war that brought about their downfall as the main theme. The new series will have 10 episodes.

House of the Dragon is expected to be one of many spin-offs to follow the original series after its 8-season run.

Game of Thrones Controversial Ending

When Game of Thrones ended, fans were ultimately divided by it, with many claiming that it did not end at the high note it previously promised.

“We had such a blast. We loved it. I was so happy with my ending, and it was just a beautiful end to a decade of my life,” Maisie Williams, who portrayed the character Arya Stark, said on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in August 2020. “I couldn’t be happier with it, honestly.”

Sophie Turner, 25, called out the various petitions fans made to speak against the show’s conclusion. “People always have an idea in their heads of how they want a show to finish, and so when it doesn’t go to their liking, they start to speak up about it and rebel,” Turner, Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, told the New York Times in 2019.

She further noted that the people behind the petitions completely disregarded the staff who worked tirelessly to bring the movie to its conclusion. “So many people worked so, so hard on it,” she continued. “And for people to just rubbish it because it’s not what they want to see is just disrespectful.”

House of the Dragon is expected to premiere on HBO Max in 2022.
