Christopher Meloni returned to his beloved role as Elliot Stabler, rejoining the New York Police Department following the tragic murder of his wife. The show has successfully aired four seasons on NBC, with the latest season launching on January 18, 2024.

However, the series has recently lost its time slot to Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s Found, which is gearing up for its second season. As a result, fans are increasingly concerned that the fourth season may be the series’ final chapter.

The Writer’s Strike Interrupted The Fourth Season, Then The Show Went To Streaming

The last broadcast season was shorter than usual-the fourth season consisted of just 13 episodes, contrasting sharply with the 22 episodes produced in each of the two earlier seasons.

Nonetheless, it surpassed the first season, which only featured 8 episodes; this reduction in episodes was largely influenced by the writer’s strike at the time.

Although the series did not continue on NBC for its fifth season, it was not canceled; rather, it transitioned to the Peacock streaming platform. Despite this shift, fans remained optimistic about the show’s future and felt reassured that it would continue to thrive.

The Show Is Doing Well

NBC Universal Entertainment’s President of Program Planning Strategy, Jeff Bader, expressed confidence in the success of “Organized Crime” back in May, as reported by TV Line.

He emphasized, “Organized Crime is a VERY successful show; this isn’t a show that was on the bubble.” Bader also highlighted the potential of streaming to enhance the show’s reach, stating, “It’s a show that works across the board, and it’s very, very strong on streaming.

Moving Season 5 to Peacock is a win-win for us — 80% of its viewing isn’t in the time period where we schedule it, so moving it to streaming made sense.

It’s delayed on Peacock, so it just made sense to move that to free up the time period, and besides, on streaming, fans can watch the show when it’s convenient for them!
