Jesse Williams Speaks Up About Possible Grey’s Anatomy Spinoff

Fans know, with a heavy heart, that Jesse Williams is leaving “Grey’s Anatomy” as Jackson Avery. As he exits the show, many people are wondering if there would be a “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff that would focus on his character and former flame and mother of his child, April Kepner (Sarah Drew).

Jesse Williams Leaves Grey’s Anatomy

William’s final episode aired on Friday, May 21. His character has decided to move to Boston with fellow doctor and friend Tom Karacick (Greg Germann). They will be working at the Avery Foundation. It was also revealed that April is set to move to Boston as well. What does this mean for April and Jackson? Will they be rekindling their relationship?

When asked if he’s interested in star in a spin-off, Williams responded, “We’ll see. I’m not entirely sure.”

“There is certainly a part of me that is compelled to go out into the wilderness as well [as Jackson] and do something different and new, so I’m very excited to do that. That said, I’m really proud of the work and the character I’ve created here in this world, and I get [fans’ interest],” he added.

“That would be a damn interesting and meaty spinoff with incredibly talented actors in a world that I don’t see reflected in television as far as equity in medicine and the actual role that the medical community plays in impacting our livelihoods, so there is something there. I don’t begrudge it. So we’ll see. We’ll see,” he continued.

Jackson Avery And April Kepner’s Future

Williams is open to the idea of Jackson and April getting back together. He explained that “they’re each other’s person. Nobody knows him, loves him, respects him, has seen his worst, and is able to understand him like April does.”

Williams said that they will remain friends at the very least but it’s also highly likely that they’ll get back together and raise their child together in Boston.

“They’re going to reconnect in a romantic way, and that’s totally possible. That’s what the fans want and we try to give them as much as we could,” he teased.

Will Jesse Williams Return To Grey’s Anatomy?

Williams also answered questions about a possible return to the show. The actor said he has no clue but didn’t close the doors on a potential comeback.

“He’s not dead! He’s still working with the foundation. He’s everybody’s boss. So I think it’s possible. We’ll have to see,” he explained.
