24 spoilers, news, and updates tease that Kiefer Sutherland, who plays the role of Jack Bauer, has a few ideas on how to revive the show if given a chance. The actor teased that he and other executive producers came up with different ideas on how to bring the show back.
The successful Fox series debuted in 2011 and ran for eight seasons. Sutherland reprised his role as the CTU-rouge agent in 24: Live Another Day, which aired in May 2014. In 2017, 24: Legacy was released and starred Corey Hawkins. The show didn’t involve Bauer because he was still behind bars in China.
In an interview with EW.com, the actor revealed that he and Howard Gordon, one of the show’s primary executive producers, were talking about bringing the show back.
“The idea of [Jack] being brought back — I’m just spitballing — I think that’s an interesting idea. You introduce a new cast of people in their effort to get him out [of Russia], and it lives on from that point. There’s a lot of ways to go about it,” he said.
Kiefer Sutherland – Michael Thorn’s Previous Statements About 24 Spinoffs
Over three years ago, former chief Michael Thorn revealed that they had two ideas for 24 spinoffs. Unfortunately, they weren’t moving forward. These ideas included a spinoff that centers on a young Jack Bauer.
“But we’re constantly looking at other opportunities to keep the title resonant, for us and the fans,” he added.
But the possibility that the show will be revived still existed. In September 2021, Thorn admitted that there had been discussions about bringing back the show.
Kiefer Sutherland’s – Take on 24’s Revival
In an interview with EW.com, the actor said that the show can be revived with or without him.
“It’s such a great idea to take a 24-hour moment in somebody’s life that is desperate — and that could be a fireman; that could be so many different circumstances,” he said.
“[T]o do something in real time is so clever — difficult, but clever — that I find it kind of shocking that it hasn’t manifested itself into something else and/or bigger,” he added.
There may be no official news about a 24 reboot but fans can still catch Sutherland on Rabbit Hole, a sly thriller that is scheduled to premiere on Paramount + on March 26.
