Law And Order: SVU Alum Christopher Meloni Reveals Why He Wouldn’t Return To NBC Show Permanently

Law And Order: SVU alum Christopher Meloni’s who fans have been expecting to return to the NBC show will be back on the show any day  now. His return is a tremendous comeback that leads into his spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime. While getting an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Christopher Meloni said he was not concerned about returning to the Special Victim Unit permanently. When further questioned by the interviewer from Entertainment Weekly, he said that he didn’t want to do it. It felt like going back to the past but that boat had sailed long ago.

Christopher Meloni Might Be Appearing In More Than One Special Victim Unit episodes

Anyway, the idea of playing the role of Elliot Stabler again was attractive but Christopher said he will stay committed to the show only if he partnered with Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson) every week. However, his colleague – who has been the showrunner on the Crime and Order series: SVU revealed Christopher may be appearing in more than a single episode of the Special Victim Unit series.

Remember that Christopher Meloni left the Crime and Order: Special Victim Unit series before a new season started in 2011. There was a rumor that he left the show amidst a contract dispute with the National Broadcasting Company (NBC). So, at the time season-13 began to air in 2011, Christopher Meloni’s absence was disclosed in a dialogue following that he had just retired from the New York Police Department (NYPD).

The Storyline On The Previous Season On Law And Order: Special Victim Unit

While Christopher Meloni still played his role as Elliot Stabler in the first-12-seasons, the series focused on Stabler and Benson’s character as the duo worked together perfectly as a pair while striking a balance with their personal life and work. While Olivia Benson was always the cool-headed detective to understand her victims, Elliot Stabler was the furious one who often exploded while interrogating his suspects. Christopher said he hoped fans were not eager to see his famous fury character in this new comeback on Law and Order: SVU. In his words “I don’t want, you know, a 50 something Elliot Stabler stomping around, unable to control his anger anymore. That is not an attractive thing to watch; he concluded.

Christopher acknowledged that playing the same role he left abruptly a decade ago was appealing to him for some personal reasons. Nevertheless, he did not hide the truth that he left the show amidst a contract dispute. Be that as it was, he nonetheless stayed in close contact with his colleagues – Mariska Hargitay and Law and Order Creator, Dick Wolf during the years he didn’t appear on the series.
