Kelli Giddish Opens Up About Her Exit From Law & Order: SVU

Law & Order: SVU spoilers and updates tease that Kelli Giddish has finally opened up about her exit from NBC’s long-running procedural show. The actress talked about the reason behind her departure.

In an interview with Variety, the actress revealed that it felt as though it was the right time for her character to leave.

“I felt like where it was heading, and where it headed last night, just seemed the right place to leave it right now,” she said.

“I am so excited about things going on in my personal life and kind of the mirroring of what’s going on in my personal life and in Rollins’, there’s a lot of joy to be experienced,” she added

Rumors have been circulating that she’s been let go from the show where she plays the role of Detective Amanda Rollins. She’s been with the primetime show for 12 years. She added that they worked on her exit storyline together, and it was beautiful to see how Rollins wrapped up her stay, which featured her strong relationship with Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), her marriage to Dominic “Sonny” Carisi (Peter Scanavino), and her new job as a teacher at Fordham University.

When asked about a possible return, the actress hinted that the door “is un-shut.”

“Dick Wolf has got such a fertile universe that’s going on, that people can pop up in different places. That’s really a cool thing that he’s created,” she added.

Giddish shared that she learned a lot from the show, and one of them is the possibility of getting hurt and still being able to love again. The actress also shared that she learned that she was leaving before the season started this year. She was very excited that her character was finally getting married.

Giddish made her last appearance on Law & Order: SVU as Detective Amanda Rollins on December 8, 2022.

Kelli Giddish – Mariska Hargitay Penns Emotional Farewell

Giddish received tributes from her long-time co-stars from the show, and one of them left her a heartwarming message.

“I’ve loved watching your achingly beautiful performances. I’ve loved watching our friendship deepen and grow and blossom. I’ve loved every single minute of it, and I will miss you so much. You have my respect, my gratitude, and my love forever,” Mariska Hargitay wrote in a social media post.
