‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Leaves NBC

The new fall TV season is here and we’ve already started discovering some uncomfortable truths. Why didn’tLaw & Order: Organized Crime premiere on Oct. 3 with ‘Law & Order’ and ‘Law & Order: SVU?’

Are they finally cancelling it and calling it a day? Well, the reason for it is not that simple, and luckily not that grim.

NBC Won’t Air Any Episode Of ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’

Let’s just say that the whole ‘Organized Crime’ situation could have been worse. Yes, NBC won’t be airing any episodes of the detective drama, but that doesn’t mean it’s the last we’ll see of our beloved characters and hated criminal masterminds.

'Law & Order: Organized Crime' Leaves NBC

And this is good news indeed, because can you imagine closing the chapter with the massive cliffhanger they ended season 4 with?

Obviously we want to know whether Joe Stabler Jr. will survive after the events that conspired to round out the fourth season.

The twist goes like this: “the youngest of the Stabler brothers finds himself with a briefcase full of a deadly Russian nerve agent handcuffed to his wrist. And as he heads off to board the private jet of criminal mastermind Julian Emery (Thomas Payne), his cover may already have been blown.” Amen!

In a May 10 chat with TVLine, Jeff Bader, President of Program Planning Strategy at NBCUniversal Entertainment, talked about the reason the show is heading to streaming.

“Organized Crime is a VERY successful show; this isn’t a show that was on the bubble,” Bader explained. “It’s a show that works across the board, and it’s very, very strong on streaming. [Moving Season 5 to Peacock] is a win-win for us — 80% of its viewing isn’t in the time period where we schedule it, it’s delayed on Peacock, so it just made sense to move that to free up the time period.”

‘Organized Crime’s’ former time slot will be taken by Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s ‘Found’ as it heads into its second season.

While fans can’t wait for it to drop on Peacock – some are crossing their fingers for early January 2025 – Soaps reported that the season will have less episodes than its predecessors. Still a win’s a win, right?
