Law & Order: SVU spoilers, news, and updates tease that fans are wondering if Ice-T is leaving the show after two decades of playing Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola. The actor shared his future plans in an interview with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Since season 2 in 2000, Ice-T has been a constant presence on the show, placing him alongside Hargitay as the second-longest serving cast member. Fans were concerned about his absence in the episode that aired on March 30, 2023, and speculated that he might be leaving the series. However, during an interview with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in March 2023, the actor discussed his future plans.
Law & Order: SVU – Ice-T Reveals Future Plans
According to Ice-T, his intention is to remain with the show as long as it is in production, and he is optimistic about SVU’s prospects for renewal beyond season 25.
“I got on the show to do four episodes, and it just keeps on going,” the actor said.
“This year, we had one of the greatest ratings seasons ever. So, we haven’t been picked up for a 25th season, but you got Dick Wolf. I mean, Dick Wolf has six shows on NBC. So, we’re sitting pretty. We’ll be back for seasons 25, 26,” he added.
He even joked that his character is still alive while the others are not. When asked how writers may kill off his alter ego in the future, he hoped that his character won’t “go out like a sucker or a rat or some bulls —.” He would rather have Fin go out “in a blaze of glory, some kind of way.”
He believes the show may be renewed for five more years, and if it comes to an end, he said he’s “robbing the wardrobe.”
Aside from the show, Ice-T is also busy with his new podcast called Ice-T’s Daily Game, which he launched last January 2023.
