Law & Order SVU spoilers and updates reveal Odafin Tutuola ( Ice-T) is set to endure some serious challenges when SVU kicks off its 27th season, as revealed by Ice-T himself. “In the premiere episode, I face a tough situation that lands me in the hospital,” the rapper-turned-actor shared with People during a recent interview, building excitement for SVU’s return on September 25.
Fin Might Be Out Of Commission For A While
Indeed, it appears that Fin’s hospitalization may temporarily sideline the New York Police Department sergeant; “I missed the second episode, but I’m back for the third,” Ice-T shared.
“They shift us around,” he explained, in other words members of the cast rotate according to storylines and filming schedules.
The veteran SVU actor mentioned that he and the rest of the cast “are completely in the dark” about the future direction of the show, possibly excluding Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson).
Mariska is also one of the executive producers for the NBC series. “We have no clue until we receive a script,” he clarified.
Ice-T Speaks About His Longtime Friendship With Mariska Hargitay
Reflecting on his enduring friendship with Hargitay, Ice-T expresses, “She’s an incredibly kind individual; I’ve known Mariska longer than anyone else in my life. I’ve known her longer than Coco Austin, my real-life wife,” he mentions, alluding to his spouse who was his co-star in their past reality show, “Ice Loves Coco”. “I’ve been collaborating with Mariska consistently for 26 years, almost every other day”- and that is a very long time! He continued praising his longtime friend and co-star, ” It’s effortless to speak highly of her because she truly is a wonderful person with a kind heart”.
Sometimes The Show’s Subject Matter Gets Pretty Heavy And Serious, Though The Cast Tries To Keep It Light Backstage
Although the cast maintains a fun atmosphere off-camera, Ice-T acknowledges that the themes can be intense; “Often, when people come to watch us film, they are taken aback.
They say, ‘Hey, you guys are just joking around and having a good time-‘but then the action starts, and we need to be serious. We have to keep things light behind the scenes because the subjects are quite heavy-when I arrived for the first episode, I thought, ‘Wait, I’m getting my a** kicked-seriously?’
Previously, it was more like, ‘Oh, you’re getting married this year.’ I asked, ‘Married to who?’ ‘Right — I was like, ‘Okay, I’m in, I guess.'” (Fin and Phoebe Baker, portrayed by Jennifer Esposito, were set to marry in Season 22 but ultimately chose to maintain their current relationship status.)
Ice-T Still Enjoys The Role In Spite Of Stressful Storylines
Ice-T mentions that he is enjoying his role; “I’ve been part of Law & Order for more than 25 years now,” he stated-“Filming for the new season has been wonderful.” He gives credit to Hargitay, 61, who plays Olivia Benson and also produces the show, for creating a positive atmosphere on set.
“Mariska is number one, I’m two, but the people leading the show really set the mood,” he clarifies; “When Mariska arrives happy, everyone is happy-she brings a very good energy.” Additionally, he’s excited because Kelli Giddish is returning to portray Amanda Rollins full-time. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Season 27 Premiere, Thursday, September 25, 9/8c.
