Law & Order SVU: Mariska Harigtay Law & Order Special Victims Unit spoilers tease that SVU stars Mariska Hargitay and her hubby Peter Hermann posed for a selfie complete with cute masks on Mariska’s Instagram account recently. The married couple play Captain Olivia Benson and Defense Attorney Trevor Langan on Law & Order Special Victims unit, respectively.

Mariska Hargitay, the daughter of the late actress Jayne Mansfield and body builder Mickey Hargitay, met her husband, Peter Hermann on the set of Law & Order SVU. She has played Olivia Benson since the premiere of the show in 1999 and met Hermann, who played Defense Attorney Trevor Langan on thirty-three episodes in 2002.

They had their first date in church together after Hermann asked her out for the first time. Even Olivia Benson would approve of a first date in a safe public place like that! In 2019, Mariska had done an interview with People Magazine where she went into detail about their first date. She said as they sat in church together, she felt like she was hit by a lightning bolt, or could that be a Cupid’s arrow?

She actually started crying her eyes out, likely making her future husband wonder what that was all about! Others around them thought she was moved to tears by the sermon, but it was just that she realized that Peter was “the one” and it overwhelmed her! Needless to say, that was one interesting first date! They dated for two years and then got married in 2004.

They now have three children together, August, Amaya and Andrew. Mariska frequently shares moments from her personal life on social media, and the recent photo she shared of them both in protective masks was taken at the set of SVU. She captioned it with “Look who came to visit me at work” followed with a series of hashtags including “Bring your husband to work day”. It sounds like he brought himself to her work, judging from her previous comment!

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Spoilers – Defense Attorney Trevor Langan Defended Olivia Benson When Her Rapist Framed Her

Longtime Law & Order: SVU fans will remember when Olivia Benson was framed for murder by a recently released rapist she had put away. While Langan never dated Benson on the show, he did have a dinner date with Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Cabot (Stephanie March) in the episode “Angels”. After Cabot left, he was also well acquainted with Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak (Diane Neal) who was Alexandra Cabot’s successor.

Novak learned the ropes of criminal cases during that time, having only prosecuted white collar crimes before her transfer. Langan later acted as the attorney for Ellie Porter (Emma Greenwell) until she was murdered, and then took over representation for her son Noah Porter (Ryan Buggle) who Olivia decided to adopt.

One of Peter’s most recent appearances on Law & Order: SVU was when Langan represented Evangeline Miller, (Kira McLean) a pregnant teenager who wanted to have an abortion. She revealed during the hearing that it was her stepfather who had raped her and was the father of her child, visibly shocking Langan. This was the episode “The Burden of Our Choices.”
