NCIS New Orleans spoilers tease that in Season 8 Episode 10 just as Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula) is finally ready to settle down and marry again, Rita Devereaux (Chelsea Field) takes a job halfway across the country in the next NCIS New Orleans episode, “Homeward Bound”!

NCIS New Orleans Spoilers – Dwayne Pride Is Finally Ready To Settle Down And Buys Rita Devereaux A Ring

NCIS New Orleans viewers will remember that Dwayne was on his own and divorced from Linda Pride (Paige Turco), the mother of his daughter Laurel Pride (Shanley Caswell) for quite a few years. It took a while of being on his own before he started romancing lady love Rita. Even then, it was now and then at first because as a state and military lawyer, she was back and forth from New Orleans on cases.

She was an old friend when she first appeared in season three, in connection with an NCIS investigation into a missing JAG officer which led to a private military school. Now, by season seven, she has not only moved to New Orleans, she has also moved in with Pride. Recent episodes have shown Dwayne and Rita sharing cooking duties, and eating homemade meals, as they both love to cook. Additionally, the two have quite a bit else in common, including his all-important music, loving to play the piano while she sings. But the episode begins with a case involving the shooting of a petty officer by a sniper. As the team investigates, they will find that the sniper didn’t act alone and they will have at least two perpetrators to track and capture.

In between investigating and solving the case, Dwayne has made a decision to put a ring on it, and he shows the rather large and expensive looking choice to NCIS New Orleans Medical Examiner and close friend Dr. Loretta Wade (CCH Pounder). Dwayne wants to know if Loretta thinks that Rita will like it and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist for Loretta to figure out it’s an engagement ring, and Dwayne plans to pop the question to Rita. After all, the next logical step after moving in together is making it official with marriage.

Dwayne and Rita had known each other for years, and when she first appeared, the backstory implied that she and he may have dated for a period of time and then went their separate ways. They have been officially dating for at least three years and moved in together at least a year ago. A spoiler photo shows the two dancing in an intimate, romantic place and it is obvious that Dwayne wants the night to be very, very, special. Whether Rita has any clue that Dwayne has marriage on his mind and plans to propose to her remain to be seen in the episode, but it is more likely than not that she doesn’t. If she did, she would try to cushion the blow instead of telling Dwayne she has some very exciting news for him and then blindsides him by telling him she’s taking a compelling job in Kansas City, several states away!
